Stephen Curry stats today: How did Team USA superstar fare against France in the Olympic final?

Stephen Curry and Team USA went against the French Men's National Basketball Team in the gold medal game at the 2024 Paris Olympics to secure the biggest prize in international basketball.

Although the Warriors star had a rough start to the first quarter, scoring no points, he lived up to his name later in the game. The French team led by the reigning rookie of the year, Victor Wembanyama, and four-time Defensive Player of the Year, Rudy Gobert were not necessarily an easy group to deal with.

They were on the neck of the USA Men's National Basketball team all the time and responded to every successful bucket with a basket of their own. However, in his usual fashion, the baby-faced assassin took responsibility for lighting the arena on fire. After the halftime ended he put on his hero's cape and went on to the mission to deliver clutch shots.

Stephen Curry answered the nation's call and laid down one of the best performances in Olympics finals history. The Golden State Warriors ace led a stellar final quarter performance where he owned the downtown and scored at will to secure Team USA their fifth consecutive Gold Medal at the most prestigious international sports event.

Trae Young credits Stephen Curry for keeping USA in the game

Atlanta Hawks star Trae Young praised Stephen Curry and LeBron James for their spectacular performances at the Paris Olympics. Young appeared on "Podcast P with Paul George" and explained why the greatest shooter of all time was the savior for the USA in the crucial game against Serbia.

"If you look at Steph, he had 36, but he also had eight rebounds, he also had nine assists. He did literally everything. ... if Steph didn't have 17 in the first quarter, they would have been down 20-plus," Young said.

Although Young did not make the Olympic roster for Team USA, he is still one of the best players in the NBA, with three All-Star selections to his name.
