Steve Kerr believes Steve Nash was hard done by Brooklyn Nets' situation: "You throw either one of us in that situation, we wouldn't have done any better than Steve"

Steve Kerr defended former Brooklyn Nets head coach Steve Nash after news of his departure was made public. Kerr highlighted how Nash's situation with the Nets played a role in dictating the outcome.

News of Steve Nash's firing comes as a shock to some, while many others are content with the decision. In light of the team's 2-5 start to the season, it was only a matter of time before the hammer fell on Nash's tenure with the Brooklyn Nets.

Kerr addressed the situation in Miami and said:

"Steve Nash is a good friend of mine, so more than anything, I feel for Steve. I think he has all the qualities to be a brilliant coach. Brilliant.
"But it was a good reminder to me and I think to all coaches that we are at the whim of players, front offices, ownership. You really need a solid situation in which to thrive as a coach in this league."

Kerr used the example of Erik Spoelstra, the head coach of the Miami Heat, whom the Warriors played against on Tuesday.

He continued:

"Erik's got one here. I've got one in Golden State. We're really lucky You throw either one of us in that situation, we wouldn't have done any better than Steve. That's the truth. As a really good friend of mine, I feel bad for Steve, but I also know that if he ever wants to get back to this thing, he could be great. He just needs a more stable environment."

Given the internal strife that plagues the Nets, Steve Nash found himself in a very difficult position to say the least. With the task of dealing with big personalities Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving and Ben Simmons, the former head coach certainly had his work cut out for him.

With a losing record and additional pressure from recent controversies piling up, the Nets and Nash reportedly came to a mutual agreement on parting ways.

With Nash on the way out, the Brooklyn Nets have started their search for a new head coach. Some reports say the Nets are looking at suspended Boston Celtics head coach Ime Udoka.

While the Brooklyn Nets have begun their search for a new head coach, we take a look at the tumultuous tenure of Steve Nash as head coach.

Considering that Nash was brought in without any prior experience as a head coach, the two-time league Most Valuable Player was already in a difficult position.

While Nash's ability as a coach was questionable, the Nets put him in a position to fail from the start. Irving's comments last season that the team may not require a coach undermined Nash's authority, and he was placed in poor light from the start.

Although Nash was supported by the management the front-office, he didn't have the team's co-operation. Therefore, the decision to mutually part ways appears to be totally valid.
