Steve Kerr confirms Steph Curry is "coming along well" on his quest to return from injury

Golden State Warriors fans have been anxiously awaiting the return of superstar point guard Steph Curry. Curry has missed seven straight games due to left shoulder subluxation, an injury that he sustained against the Indiana Pacers on Dec. 14.

A previous update, 10 days after his injury occurred, suggested that he was not close to a return. Additional reports added that he would be re-evaluated in another two weeks. However, Curry is getting closer to making his return, according to coach Steve Kerr.

During one of his regular appearances on “Damon and Ratto” for 95.7 The Game, the Warriors' lead tactician said that Curry is making good progress in his recovery.

“He’s been doing a lot of stuff on the court,” Kerr said.
“He’s getting a lot of good work in, he’s really coming along well. Everything is progressing.”

Steph Curry himself also recently spoke about his injury and recovery timeline. This took place during a sideline interview with ESPN on ABC’s Lisa Salters during the Warriors’ Christmas Day win over the Memphis Grizzlies.

He said that he will try to return as close as possible to the reported two-week timeline for him to be re-evaluated.

“I'm hoping as close to that two weeks as possible,” Curry said.
“More so, that gives you time to really lock in on the rehab process and every check-box you got to go through to get back to 5-on-5 action. Hopefully, the back-end will be a lot faster than this front-end.”

If Curry achieves his goal, then he could return around Jan. 7 versus the Orlando Magic. This would mean he would only miss three more games before making his return. The next possible game Curry could return in would be on Jan. 10 against the Phoenix Suns.

Those two games against Orlando and Phoenix will mark the final two games in the Warriors’ current eight-game homestand.

The Golden State Warriors got off to a rough start without Steph Curry, going just 1-3 over their first four games after his shoulder injury. This included a 38-point road loss to the New York Knicks followed by a 30-point road loss to the Brooklyn Nets on back-to-back nights.

However, since returning home, Golden State has won three straight games to kick off their eight-game homestand.

The Warriors have now improved to 4-3 since Curry went down with his injury on Dec. 14. During this stretch, they has been led by rising star guard Jordan Poole, who has averaged 27.6 points per game over his last seven games.

Overall, the Golden State Warriors are 4-6 without Steph Curry this season and 14-12 with him. This gives them a record of 18-18, good enough for 10th in the Western Conference standings.

The Warriors will hope to have their star guard back as soon as possible as they look to re-enter the Western Conference playoff picture.
