Steve Kerr speaks out on rumored Paris Olympics controversy involving Jayson Tatum after Warriors' blowout loss vs. Celtics
Steve Kerr shared his thoughts on Jayson Tatum after the Boston Celtics handed the Golden State Warriors a 125-85 defeat on Monday. Kerr had the opportunity to coach Tatum during the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Despite Team USA's success, many believed that the coach and the Celtics star had issues with each other given how JT didn't play as much as expected.
The Warriors' head coach cleared the air after Monday's game. Kerr clarified that he and Tatum never had problems with one another. He pointed it was the outsiders who assumed that there was something bad brewing.
“We texted after the game in Boston a couple of months ago and we talked last night after the game," Kerr said. "I will tell you that Jayson [Tatum] was an absolute dream to coach. During all that stuff, that so called controversy, you might notice there wasn’t a single quote from Jayson.
"It was everybody else talking about it," Kerr continued. "Jayson is an amazing guy and an incredible player and he couldn’t have handled it any better when he was there.”
Steph Curry was shattered after the Celtics' blowout victory over the Warriors
Steph Curry and the Golden State Warriors took on the Boston Celtics on Monday night. It was a humiliating game for the Warriors as they suffered from a 125-85 blowout loss. While Curry remains as Golden State's leader and role model, he couldn't hide his frustration after the loss.
During a postgame interview, Curry told the press that he believes that his team lacks the competitive drive. He also pointed out the struggles they've been dealing with all season.
"I have no idea," Curry said about the loss to the Boston Celtics. "Just been a tough one from the end of the first quarter through the rest of the game. Thought we came out with pretty good life and energy. A big part of our season has been when we can’t score, we lose spirit, we lose life, we lose competitiveness.”
While the Golden State Warriors (21-21) are in 11th place in the Western Conference, they are tied with the 10th-placed Phoenix Suns (21-21). This means that they still have a chance to at least make the NBA In-Season Tournament by the end of the season.
