"Still so hard to process": Karl-Anthony Towns' GF Jordyn Woods gets emotional as Knicks' newest star bids Wolves farewell

Longtime Minnesota Timberwolves star Karl-Anthony Towns was traded to the New York Knicks, bringing an end to his time in the Twin Cities. The move left the NBA community stunned given the success Towns and the Timberwolves had last season. As it turns out, Towns' girlfriend was equally stunned.

After Towns penned a heartfelt tribute to Minnesota and the Timberwolves organization, Jordyn Woods weighed in on the trade in a post on her Instagram story:

"I am so proud of him. This is still so hard to process being that I'll miss my @timberwolves family so much but I know God has us and this is the beginning of something great."

Towns and Jordyn Woods have been together since May 2020, five years after Towns was selected first overall by the Minnesota Timberwolves.

In addition to injuries that have sidelined him, Karl-Anthony Towns lost his mother and seven other relatives during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. As he worked through the loss of his mother and other family members, he became close with Woods.

"This is just the beginning": Karl-Anthony Towns' girlfriend reacts to Timberwolves star's farewell to organization

After the Minnesota Timberwolves-New York Knicks trade was finalized, the 2022 NBA 3-Point Contest champion took to social media with a heartfelt tribute to the Timberwolves organization.

He reflected on his nine-year experience with the Wolves, recalling how he arrived in Minnesota as a young guy with a dream. Since then, Towns has established himself as one of the league's top offensive big men, as well as a good 3-point shooter.

Along with his tribute, Towns shared a video chronicling his time with the franchise, complete with some of his most memorable moments from his time with the team.

In response to the post, Karl-Anthony Towns' girlfriend wrote:

"I'm so proud of you. You already know I have so much to say but I'm going to keep it short. Most loyal and deserving person I know even when life throws you obstacles. You never meet people where they're at, you over extended your arm always. I love you and this is the just the beginning."

Towns will join the New York Knicks, poised to make waves in the Eastern Conference after making it to the second round of playoffs last season despite injuries to key players Julius Randle and Mitchell Robinson.

While the team sacrificed depth, with the acquisitions of both Towns and Mikal Bridges this offseason, it is eager to cement its place as a title contender in the East in the 2024-25 NBA season.
