"Stop just saying stuff to be polite to Bronny" — Nick Young not a fan of NBA analysts sugar-coating criticisms about Bronny James

LeBron James' son, Bronny James, has struggled to find his rhythm offensively in the NBA 2K25 Summer League. After playing two of the team's three games in the California Classic, Bronny's shooting slump continued in Las Vegas — the second-round pick has failed to convert a single 3-pointer. The way NBA vet Nick Young sees things, analysts are taking it easy on Bronny.

Analysts and the LA Lakers staff have repeatedly referred to Bronny as a 3-and-D player. As Rob Pelinka has explained, Bronny was one of the best shooters at the NBA Draft Combine. Pelinka hopes that Bronny can refine his shot and improve his skills defensively to be a true 3-and-D player.

Young thinks that while Bronny will find his shot at some point, analysts shouldn't be calling him a 3-and-D player. In a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, he weighed in, offering some advice to the second-generation hooper.

"Bronny is not a 3 and D guy stop just saying stuff to be polite Bronny can play ball just take them wash ass bad luck Tyler Perry braids out lol .. and play with the confidence of Thanasis like I wish a mf would say something to me and yo ass is cut or fire ..
"Play with the confidence of my dad own the nba what they gonna do to me.. have fun out there and miss with confidence that shit will start falling"

Looking at Bronny James' recent Summer League performances and the season ahead for the second-generation hooper

Bronny James' play on the offensive end of the floor in the NBA 2K25 Summer League has left a lot to be desired. In the Lakers' 88-74 loss to the Boston Celtics, Bronny James played in his fourth game of the summer.

In games past, his struggles have been largely contained to the offensive end of the floor, but Bronny struggled to make a difference defensively against the Celtics, finishing the game without a single block.

On offense, he finished the game with just two points, going 1-5 on the night while logging three rebounds and an assist, along with three fouls and two turnovers. His play caught the attention of reigning Finals MVP Jaylen Brown, who was sitting courtside with his girlfriend Kysre Gondrezick, a former WNBA player.

As Brown was seen saying during the game, Bronny doesn't appear to be NBA-ready yet. While the clip quickly went viral, few expected Bronny to be NBA-ready after just one year at USC.

JJ Redick sees Bronny as part of the Lakers' developmental program. Because of that, the most likely path for Bronny after the NBA 2K25 Summer League will be the NBA's G League.

Despite Bronny's agent, Rich Paul, saying that he doesn't want Bronny to play in the G League, Bronny James has made it clear that he just wants to hoop, whether it's for the South Bay Lakers or the LA Lakers.
