Taking closer statistical look at Steph Curry's MVP winning seasons

Steph Curry has played in the NBA for 14 seasons now. He and the Golden State Warriors revolutionized the game of basketball in their 2014-15 championship run. Not only is Curry considered to be one of the greatest shooters of all time, but he also influenced the NBA to become an outside shooting league. It is more than likely to be inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame

Curry is a four-time champion, a Finals MVP, and an eight-time All-Star. As mentioned earlier, Curry took the league by storm after the Miami Heat era ended, which led to his two MVP seasons.

Steph Curry won the prestigious MVP title in back-to-back seasons. He first won it in 2015, then in 2016. Curry undoubtedly deserved to win both awards, especially in his 2016 campaign. He influenced many young players and league veterans alike to utilize the three-point shot more often. During one of those two runs, he also became a champion. But what exactly did his MVPseasons look like?

Curry won his first MVP award in the 2014-15 NBA season. He averaged 23.8 points, 7.7 assists, 4.3 rebounds, and two steals per game. Some believed that James Harden should've won the MVP that season. However, the majority of the fans voted for Steph instead. In all honesty, the "Baby-faced Assassin" deservedly won the award in 2015.

Steph Curry was the leader of the Golden State Warriors at this point. He helped his team secure the top seed in the West with a 67-15 record. It was clear that Curry was the player who did most of the offensive work. The only one who truly kept up was Klay Thompson, who scored 21.7 points per game. But aside from Klay's scoring, it was Steph who facilitated the offense most of the time.

Curry and the Warriors were on a roll in 2015. The Golden State superstar not only won the MVP award but also helped them win their first title in 40 years. It was truly momentous.

In the 2015-16 season, Steph Curry won his second consecutive MVP award. What made it extra special was the fact that he became the first player to win the award unanimously. Curry had arguably his best season in 2016 averaging 30.1 points, 6.7 assists, 5.4 rebounds, and 2.1 steals per game. It was also his best shooting season with 50.4% FG and 45.4% from behind the arc.

Curry's dominance that year obviously boosted the Warriors' morale. Golden State ended up beating the 1995-96 Chicago Bulls' 72-10 record with their 73-9 record. This was one of the major factors why Steph won the MVP unanimously. Unfortunately, despite making the NBA Finals in 2016, they ended up falling to LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers.
