Tari Eason's mom makes feelings clear on fan's proposed Kevin Durant trade
Houston Rockets forward Tari Eason's mom, Teroya Eason, made her feelings clear on a fan's proposed trade between the Rockets and the Phoenix Suns. The scenario featured star Kevin Durant being traded to the Rockets in exchange for Eason, Alperen Sengun and a future first-round pick.
The fan argued that Durant "deserves better" and that the trade may be the Suns' best opportunity to salvage their salary cap situation. On Monday, Teroya completely dismissed the fan's proposed trade idea on X, formerly Twitter, with a hilarious response.
"This may be the best opportunity to start rehab, because whatever you’re on is dangerous!" Teroya tweeted.
The Phoenix Suns' payroll for this season exceeds $220 million, making it the highest in the NBA. Over $51 million of that chunk is owed to Kevin Durant. While trading the forward may help relieve the Suns' situation, the Houston Rockets are unlikely to give up two key players on their surging team.
The Suns are currently 10th in the Western Conference with a 12-11 record and are dealing with a three-game losing streak. Meanwhile, the Rockets are third in the West with a 16-8 record.
So far in the season, Durant is averaging 25.8 points, 6.7 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 1.5 blocks while shooting 53.6% from the field, including 44.9% from beyond the arc.
Meanwhile, Tari Eason has been outstanding for the Rockets this season and is emerging as one of the best defenders for the team. The third-year forward averages 11.3 points, 6.5 rebounds, 1.1 assists, 1.0 blocks and 2.1 steals in under 23 minutes of playtime per game. He is also shooting 47.6%, including 30.3% from deep, in the 22 games he has played in the season.
Tari Eason in NBA's concussion protocol
Tari Eason seemingly suffered an injury during the Houston Rockets' matchup against the Sacramento Kings last week, after which he has not yet returned to action. He was listed out due to the league's concussion protocol for the Rockets' previous two matchups and is listed as questionable for their upcoming Emirates NBA Cup quarterfinal game against the Golden State Warriors on Wednesday.
With Eason unable to suit up, the Rockets previously fell 93-99 to the Warriors on Thursday, which was their 15th straight loss to Golden State. As one of Houston's key players, Eason's participation in the quarterfinal matchup may be pivotal for the outcome of the game.
