"That is a bad dude"- Analyst hails consensus No. 1 2025 NBA Draft pick Cooper Flagg after glowing review from Kevin Durant
There has been a lot of excitement surrounding Cooper Flagg's imminent arrival in the NBA. Following his scrimmage against Team USA as part of the Select Team, Suns star Kevin Durant praised his impressive skill set and focused mindset.
In response, NBA analyst Seth Greenberg also mimicked Durant's comments by highlighting what makes Flagg standout in the 2025 Draft Class.
The NBA prospect is set to play for Duke University before he steps foot in the professional league, which has fans and the media already clamoring for it. The upside is there as he presents the complete player package that several league scouts continuously look for each year.
Greenberg shared his assessment in his appearance on ESPN's Get Up, which was also shared on X.
"That is a bad dude," Greenberg said. "He's a generational talent. 6'9", seven-foot-wingspan, three-level scorer, can play in the post, great footwork, shoots the three, did a great job attacking mismatches. Next year, America ... you're going to listen and see him every single night on SportsCenter, on GetUp, on First Take, the dude is a generational talent."
A prospect like Cooper Flag, who is the projected No. 1 draft pick next year, doesn't come around often. Not many athletes have the same capabilities as him on the basketball court.
To be given the opportunity to play for the Select Team and match up against elites from the NBA will go a long way in his development as a player.
The eye test and the numbers are there. It also helps that professional players, such as Durant, and analysts are all in agreement with the scouting report associated with him.
NBA insider's assessment of Cooper Flagg following his scrimmage against Team USA
After Flagg's Select Team showing against Team USA, NBA insider Tim Bontemps shared his assessment with On3.com's Sam Gillenwater. He believes that the prospect is unlike the players that came before.
"He was out there in this scrimmage with the Select Team going toe-to-toe with those guys and really dominating the final portions of that scrimmage," Bontemps said. "He's the first college player to be part of the Select Team since Doug McDermott and Marcus Smart back in 2013. ... Cooper Flagg hasn't even played in a college basketball game yet."
If he already looked impressive against NBA players, what can we expect once he gets that first year in college done and out of the way? The potential remains at an incredible height for Cooper Flagg, who only looks to get started.
Additionally, Bontemps also asked NBA Champion Jayson Tatum what he took from Flagg's showing. Tatum was another superstar in the league who had nothing but praise for the young forward as he looked every bit as advertised and more.
