"That number already got aura" - NBA fans hyped as Bronny James chooses #9 for Lakers

Fans react to Bronny James' choice of jersey number in his first season with the LA Lakers. History has been made after James was selected 55th overall by the Lakers during the second round of the 2024 NBA Draft. After the draft, there's a ton of excitement about what Bronny could bring to the team.

Some fans wondered what jersey number James would pick. Since his father, LeBron, is wearing number 23, some speculated that the rookie would choose the number 6. However, the entire league decided to retire the number to honor the late Bill Russell, which means it can't be used anymore.

But the younger James had a bright idea of turning the number upside down and wearing the number 9. The Lakers will have two players with the same name at the back, one with the number 23, and the other with 9.

After fans saw this, they even got more excited to see the two play together. Here are some of what the fans had to say.

"That number already got aura," one fan said.
"Clever, 9 is an upside down 6," another fan said.
"How long till you hang it in the rafters?" one fan was already thinking of it getting retired.
"Ordering the jersey now," a fan said on X.

Other fans weren't nice with their reactions to Bronny's jersey number.

"N***a picked a upside down 6," one fan said.
"Hope yall asked Luol Deng for his permission," one loyal fan hasn't forgotten one of the franchise's past players.

Four-time champion shares prediction on Bronny James' NBA career

Bronny James' dream of making it to the NBA is official after his name was called. There are a few who have not been fans of James' journey to the league because the young guard struggled in college. Despite this, four-time champion Draymond Green still believes Bronny will have a great career in the league.

In the latest edition of "The Draymond Green Show," Green shared his thoughts on Bronny being drafted by the Lakers.

""I actually think Bronny is going to end up being a better pro than a lot of these players in this draft... He has LeBron James' DNA," Green said.

The older James is respected in the league as one of the smartest players. Green believes that Bronny will likely inherit that trait from his father, allowing him to prosper in the NBA.

Bronny has shown a lot of promise and fans are excited to see how far he can go in his career in the league.
