"That video sold me" - Paul George admits Lil Dicky's free agency pitch on 'saving money' lured him to sign with 76ers

Paul George is set to start a new chapter in his NBA career with the Philadelphia 76ers, one of the best teams in the Eastern Conference which many consider long overdue for at least a Conference finals appearance.

After trying with Jimmy Butler, Ben Simmons and James Harden, Joel Embiid will now share touches with Paul George and Tyrese Maxey to create a terrific Big 3 at Wells Fargo Center.

After five years with the Clippers, George decided to part with the team and join the Sixers this offseason. Besides the prospect of playing alongside an MVP and a potential MVP candidate, rapper Lil Dicky played a role in George's decision to go to Philly.

"I do gotta talk about because you did a funny free-agency video. How did that come about? Did they reach out to you like, 'Hey, we need you...?' 'Cause that video, it sold me. 'Cause it was about, you know, obviously saving [money]. What hit me was saving money. It impacted me. It had a little touch on me," George explained in the latest edition of his Podcast P show.

The rapper then explained that he has developed a friendship with Daryl Morey and the 76ers front office, which has allowed him to send trade proposals or ask what move they might be plotting.

Dicky explained that he owns a house in Los Angeles and used that in the team's favor to convince George to move to Philly and make a run with the 76ers. Paul George agreed with that, sharing some of the prices he saw during his house hunting.

"I just went out to Philadelphia to go house hunting. Beatiful homes. Beautiful homes. I was like, 'Damn, this is only $2.5 [million], this is only $3 million?'"

Paul George will honor Kobe Bryant with new jersey number

After becoming PG13 with the LA Clippers, Paul George is making a big change to start his stint with the 76ers. The veteran swingman will honor Kobe Bryant with his new jersey number. The five-time NBA champion, who was born in Philadelphia, wore No. 8 during the first years of his career. Now, George will pay homage to the Black Mamba with the 76ers.

"I had to do it. C'mon man, I'm in Philly." George said on his podcast. "My way of idolizing Kobe.”

The 76ers are expected to be a top team in the East next season. Apart from the Boston Celtics, the New York Knicks and Milwaukee Bucks will be top candidates to make it to the Finals, but the new Big 3 can make some noise too.
