"The kids (me) miss you": Iowa's Jada Gyamfi pens special message for Caitlin Clark following win against Dallas Wings

Jada Gyamfi had heartfelt words for former Iowa Hawkeyes teammate Caitlin Clark as she requested her to "come home." Gyamfi enjoys a friendly relationship with the WNBA rookie sensation and wrote that the "kids" miss her, a reference to herself and her teammates.

The Indiana Fever secured a narrow 110-109 victory over the Dallas Wings on Sunday. After the game, Clark took to Instagram and posted pictures of the game. Gyamfi shared her emotions in the comments:

"Come home the kids (me) miss you," Gyamfi wrote.

In her 36 minutes against the Wings, Clark scored 35 points, 2 rebounds, and 8 assists. Aaliyah Boston chipped in 15 points, 6 rebounds, and 6 assists.

Caitlin Clark is the NCAA Division I all-time leading scorer. The two-time national Player of the Year proved to be a kind mentor to Gyamfi, who played only eight games in her freshman year due to an ankle injury.

Kate Martin, Gabbie Marshall, and Caitlin Clark-- all seniors-- were Gyamfi's friends. On the podcast "Talking Hawks with the VandeBergs" in May, Gyamfi shared how she cultivated friendships with her seniors:

"I leaned on them a lot which I think helped them trust me because I was like, 'Hey, I'm going through this and you have been through this.'"

Gyamfi had some words about the humor and the friendly nature of Caitlin Clark:

"Caitlin was an easy one cause we could sit and laugh for hours. She's really funny. I'm really funny and I knew her kind of coming into this."

Jada Gyamfi had a friend who was her teacher

Clark and Gyamfi went on trips together and both posted pictures of each other on socials. But Gyamfi always preferred to learn from her illustrious friend.

While talking to FOX 17 in Des Moines, Jamie Gyamfi, father of Jada Gyamfi, shared how much his daughter learned from Caitlin Clark:

“When she got to Iowa to play, they had five starters that have been there for years. They didn’t need her to be the go-to person, but they needed her to be willing to learn and listen. She learned a lot about Caitlin‘s vision, and how she sees the court, and how she tells other players, on what she sees. Jada just talks a lot about how she’s learned so much from so many of the players, McKenna, Monica, and Gabby.”

And Jada Gyamfi too was always there for her dear friend. She went to New York to support Caitlin Clark during the WNBA Draft, where Clark was the No. 1 pick by Indiana Fever.
