Jordan Poole on being 'locked in' after mega contract extension with Golden State Warriors

Golden State Warriors star guard Jordan Poole recently signed a massive contract extension. Due to this, he now has a newfound passion for his team and is even more enganged.

Ahead of the 2022-23 NBA season, the Warriors and Jordan Poole reached an agreement to extend his rookie contract. Poole's new deal is worth $140 million in four years. This came ahead of Monday's deadline for contract extensions for the 2019 draft class.

Later, Poole was interviewed about how he feels about his contract extension. Kerith Burke, a reporter for NBC Sports Bay Area & CA, had a chance to talk to Poole about his new deal. The former 28th pick feels secure about his new deal and is excited to keep playing for the Warriors.

"There’s another level you can take it, knowing that your family is taken care of, friends taken care of, anything that you needed to do is essentially done other than play basketball," Poole said.
Jordan Poole said signing the extension makes him feel even more locked in. “There’s another level you can take it, knowing that your family is taken care of, friends taken care of, anything that you needed to do is essentially done other than play basketball.”

Jordan Poole is looking ready despite the drama that ensued within the team a few weeks ago. With his new deal, it's safe to assume that Poole will be an integral part of the Warriors' future.

Jordan Poole's new contract is a statement to his place in the team

The Warriors are the talk of the town again. But this time, it's because of Jordan Poole's new deal. A few days ago, the youngster inked a well-deserved contract extension which has opened up new possibilities for his future with the team.

Coming into his fourth season, Poole is expected to take on more responsibilities with the team. Last season, he started 51 out of the 76 games he played. This may have foreshadowed his new role with the team.

During their two preseason games in Japan, Poole saw action early on. He was included in the starting lineup against the Washington Wizards. While it may seem like it's not much of a big deal, the Warriors seem to trust Poole in the starting lineup. His gradual improvement has made the front office's job easier in scouting new talents for the team.

Klay Thompson might have a new role this season. He's still not 100% and there might be some minute restrictions for him this season. He's lost a ton of athleticism and the emergence of Poole will allow him to return to his original form without much pressure.

Jordan Poole and the Golden State Warriors aren't heavy favorites to win the NBA title. Still, that doesn't mean that they should be overlooked. The Warriors are still one of the top teams in the Western Conference. Despite the return of Kawhi Leonard for the LA Clippers and Jamal Murray for the Denver Nuggets, Golden State is still the team to beat.

The team took a massive blow to their roster when Otto Porter, Gary Payton II and Juan Tuscano-Anderson decided to leave the team. The front office tried their best to compensate for their loss by acquiring Donte DiVincenzo and JaMychal Green. It also looks like the team will rely heavily on the production of their stars like Jordan Poole, Jonathan Kuminga and James Wiseman.

The Warriors may not be the most well-rounded team in the NBA this season, but their experience will cause trouble for opposing teams. Plus, Poole might have a breakout year this season.
