"They look better than the Lakers" - Former WWE champion thinks the Cleveland Cavaliers will make it to the NBA Finals
Former WWE champion The Miz thinks that the Cleveland Cavaliers will make it to the NBA Finals. The Miz also took a shot at the LA Lakers and their slow start to the season.
In an interview with TMZ Sports, The Miz was pretty excited by the Cavaliers' early-season performances. The WWE superstar has a lot of faith in the Cavaliers and thinks that they will come out of the Eastern Conference this season. He also claimed that the Cavaliers are much better than the Lakers.
"We're going to the NBA Finals," The Miz said. "They got a young squad and they got some good superstars. They look good and they look better than the Lakers."
The Miz also praised Donovan Mitchell, who the Cleveland Cavaliers acquired in the offseason. Mitchell is averaging 32.2 points, 4.5 rebounds, 7.3 assists and 1.7 steals in the Cavaliers' first six games of the season. His assist numbers are high due to the absence of point guard Darius Garland.
"The Cavs are good," The Miz said. "They're up-and-coming like a team that literally people are passing on and going, 'They're good, but they're not that good.' No, they're that good. ... Spida's gonna be amazing."
Cleveland Cavaliers off to a hot start without Darius Garland
The Cleveland Cavaliers are having a fantastic start to the season. They are 5-1 after six games, which is the second-best record in the NBA. Donovan Mitchell has been fantastic for the Cavaliers, while Caris LeVert, Jarrett Allen and Evan Mobley are playing great.
Kevin Love even stepped up recently to score 29 points off the bench to help the Cavaliers defeat the New York Knicks last Sunday. Cleveland's only loss of the season came against the Toronto Raptors in their first game of the season. They lost All-Star point guard Darius Garland to injury in that game.
Garland has been sidelined due to an eyelid injury, but has joined the team in practice. It's not clear when he'll be available to return, but it seems like it's only a matter of time. The Cavaliers also surprised a lot of people last season, but the acquisition of Mitchell could make them legitimate contenders.
LA Lakers finally got their first win of the season
The LA Lakers might not be as good as the Cleveland Cavaliers at the moment, but they finally won their first game of the season. The Lakers defeated the Denver Nuggets 121-110 on Sunday. It was also Darvin Ham's first ever win as an NBA head coach.
LeBron James had 26 points, six rebounds and eight assists, while Anthony Davis put up 23 points and 15 rebounds with a bad back. Russell Westbrook added 18 points, eight rebounds and eight assists off the bench. The Lakers are now 1-5 to start the season.
The Lakers will look to build momentum as they welcome the upstart New Orleans Pelicans on Wednesday.
