"They need a Trump-like NBA president to get rid of Kamala Silver" - NBA fans debate Hall of Fame coach's take on load management
Load management in the NBA has gone from an occasional strategy to maintain players' health to a negative factor of the game reasonable for a decline in league viewership. While the league has begun to crack down on load management, some of basketball's biggest stars are still seen on the bench without significant injury.
Hall of Fame coach George Karl offered his thoughts on load management and its role in basketball fans losing interest in the league with a post to X on Sunday afternoon.
The post sparked debate among fans in the comments, with some calling out Karl's political affiliation. Fans forced questionable comparisons between the United States presidential race and the status of the league.
"They need a Trump-like NBA president to get rid of Kamala Silver," a fan commented.
"Oh so you want to CONSERVE the NBA and its principles but not America huh? News flash coach, the league is a direct reflection of our pampered LIBERAL society. Bunch of whiney cry babies ready to quit when it's time to work," another fan added.
Other fans more reasonably called out the evolution of playstyles in the NBA over the last decade, along with league officiating.
"The quality of play on the floor needs to improve. The days when you coached, the game took a lot more strategy and intelligence to succeed. Now the game has been watered down. It is run, pass, screen, move, drive and kick for 3. Next play more of the same another 3. It's lame," one fan commented, blaming the 3-point-heavy ways of NBA teams today.
"I loved 80s and 90s basketball much more than today's game," another fan added. "Better product!"
"You left out 4 steps allowed and can't defend the lane also," a third fan chimed in, placing blame on the league's officiating.
Former NBA coach George Karl faces criticism in post for Kamala Harris' support
Many players and coaches around the league offered support to Democratic candidate Kamala Harris in the United States presidential race. Among these coaches was George Karl, who publically endorsed Harris ahead of the presidential race.
Fans criticized Karl's support of Kamala Harris in the comments of his aforementioned post. Karl was one of Harris' biggest supporters from the league during her campaign. The 2012-13 Coach of the Year also started Hoops For Harris, a movement for players and coaches around the league to publically show their support for Kamala Harris during the presidential race.
Donald Trump defeated Kamala Harris in the United States Presidential Election on Wednesday.
