"They're going to crush PG" - Draymond Green warns Paul George of 76ers fans' harsh criticism if he fails alongside Joel Embiid

This summer, Paul George left the LA Clippers to join the Philadelphia 76ers. While Philly fans are excited to see George play, Draymond Green believes PG's new supporters can be harsh.

Sixers fans are notorious for being critical of their team and its players. They've called out Ben Simmons, Tobias Harris and even Joel Embiid for failing to bring them a title.

While George feels his 76ers will give its faithful reasons to cheer, Green thinks one bad game may cause the star's supporters to turn on him.

"Good luck, Paul George. Aww, he better play well or they're going to crush Paul George if he don't play well. Oh my God. You know why they're gonna crush George if he play there? If he don't play well?
"Because they already got a nasty taste in their mouths from the last three (small forward) that they had, with Tobias Harris. That's why [he] should play well, if they want to win."

George is no stranger to criticism. During his Clippers tenure, fans called him "Pandemic P" when he struggled: a mockery of his "Playoff P" moniker.

Fans brought back the nickname after their first-round 2024 playoff exit vs. Dallas. George had several bad moments during the series.

In Game 3 against the Mavs, the ex-Fresno State forward only scored seven points while shooting 3-11 from the field. In Game 5, his struggles returned, as he finished with 15 points on 4-13 shooting. During LA's elimination game, George shot 6-18.

Why did Paul George sign with the Sixers?

Fans thought Paul George would stay with the Clippers. His choice to sign with the Sixers surprised many. In a July episode of his show, Podcast P, George shared his decision to move to Philly this summer.

He said the Clippers wouldn't match his asking price and offered him a three-year, $150 million deal with a no-trade clause. After negotiating, the parties couldn't agree on a new contract.

Paul George also shared that he's close with Joel Embiid and the idea of playing alongside the 2023 MVP intrigued him.
