"They're jealous of my success": LeBron James' friend Cuffs The Legend hits back at 'rapist' label from 'miserable souls' amid daughter's graduation
Cuffs The Legend is a friend of LA Lakers star LeBron James and took to social media this week to hit back at people online. After posting about his daughter's graduation, some users were quick to revisit old tweets where he had referenced rape.
Four-time NBA champion LeBron James also responded to Cuffs' post about his daughter's graduation. The stark contrast in responses, with an NBA star like James wishing Cuffs well on the big day, and others, left some members of the NBA community confused.
Cuffs' post about the situation reads:
"Couple miserable souls be trying their best to assassinate my character and make up lies about me all because they’re jealous of my success and the people I’m affiliated with and it’s beyond weird. Never harmed a soul in my life. Get a family and get a life!"
Old screenshots circulated online, showing tweets made by Cuffs The Legend back as far as 2011. In them, he frequently referenced the topic of rape. In a post on Friday, he vehemently denied ever hurting anyone. Below are some of the tweets being referenced by people online.
"If some old tweets/jokes offend you, I apologize" - LeBron James' friend Cuffs The Legend clarifies old tweets
In addition to responding to the well-wishes from LeBron James, Cuffs The Legend also addressed the other talk online. In it, he explained that he was simply making jokes all those years ago and that at the time, Twitter was a very different place.

The situation also raised the question of how LeBron James knows Cuffs The Legend, and what makes the two friends, given that James responded to the original tweet.
In one response, James referred to Cuffs The Legend as his homie, while in another he joked about Cuffs needing sunglasses to hide his tears at the graduation.
While it's unclear exactly how the two met, back in 2021 Cuffs spoke in an interview with Heavy about their friendship. At the time, he indicated that the pair had mutual friends, and in addition to becoming friends with LeBron James, he was also friends with Maverick Carter, James' longtime friend and business partner.
While the pair have been friends for many years, the four-time NBA champ hasn't commented on the tweets from Cuffs.
