"Things are getting dumber and dumber": Draymond Green comes to Bronny James' defense amid viral special treatment accusation
Draymond Green has seen enough Bronny James slander and took to Instagram to send a strong message about the criticism the young player has received. The four-time NBA champion took notice of recent comments made by one of Bronny's teammates in the Summer League, sending a blunt response.
"Any player that is actually drafted will be showcased and favored in summer league.... These things are getting dumber and dumber," Green wrote on an Instagram story.
This post comes after one anonymous player labeled the experience of playing alongside Bronny James as 'frustrating' given all the extra attention he received.
“The attention he attracted was ‘very frustrating’ for the players to see, and his alleged star treatment caused friction among the team, which went 0-5 to start the tournament, per a Lakers insider,” Steve Brenner and Damian Burchardt of the US Sun wrote.
While Bronny just went on with the Summer League, the external attention he got didn't sit well with some players and his teammate said it was difficult for the team to build chemistry with all the off-court stuff happening.
“‘That kind of tension didn’t help the group of players to build chemistry,’ the source said, who noted they have ‘nothing against’ Bronny.
“And you could feel that there was no unity [between] this group of guys as Bronny was the main guy and the others didn’t feel that it was right, that he deserved that.”
Moreover, the player added that they were part of an 'annoying' situation since Bronny received special treatment.
“I mean, he was treated as someone apart, not like all of us, and that is very annoying as we didn’t feel any chemistry in this group of players."
Draymond Green hyped up Jayson Tatum after SI photoshoot
Before defending Bronny James, Draymond Green was celebrating Jayson Tatum after the Boston Celtics star was featured on the cover of Sports Illustrated magazine. Tatum paid homage to Leonardo DiCaprio's iconic scene from 'The Great Gatsby' where he toasts somebody off camera.
"Yesssir CHAMP!!!" Green captioned the post.
After losing to Draymond Green and the Golden State Warriors in the 2022 NBA Finals, Jayson Tatum and the Boston Celtics were hungry for revenge this past season, dominating the Dallas Mavericks in five games to end a 16-year championship drought.
Green paid respect to Tatum, who further established himself as an elite star in the NBA.
