"This Mother's Day was different": Jalen Green and Draya Michele welcome baby girl into the world

Houston Rockets young star Jalen Green finished the 2023-24 NBA season on a high note, individually speaking. He couldn't lead the squad to the play-in tournament, losing the 10th spot in the West to the Golden State Warriors. While the season didn't go in his team's favor, Green already had reasons to celebrate.

The former No. 2 overall pick in the NBA draft and his girlfriend, Draya Michele, were expecting a baby, and the child arrived on a meaningful date. With a lengthy Instagram post, Michele said she became a mom three years after a sad moment.

"In 2021 on Mother’s Day, my dad passed away. Since then, it’s been extremely hard to celebrate that day without remembering the earth shattering phone call I received that morning. Well, this Mother’s Day was different. My daughter was safely brought into this world and I’m forever grateful for the new memories we all get to experience moving forward. 🩶 Love + Light everyone," she announced today.

Green and Michele announced they were expecting a baby in March. The relationship between the 39-year-old Michele and the 22-year-old Green was met with criticism.

Draya Michele spoke about her happiness during pregnancy

Despite all the criticism they've received, Jalen Green and Draya Michele were excited to welcome a baby into this world. In April, she talked about her pregnancy on Instagram.

“Other than that, I am top 5 happiest I have ever been in my life,” she wrote.
“Ok top 3 actually (happiest I have ever been in my life).”

Jalen Green's Rockets have a bright future ahead

After a notable first season under Ime Udoka, the Houston Rockets are ready to keep improving their game. They went from 22 wins to 41, just missing the play-in tournament.

Jalen Green finished the campaign with a surge, averaging 19.6 points, 5.2 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game in 82 games.

Alperen Sengun, Jabari Smith Jr. and Green are considered the future of this franchise, and it's fair to say they're on the right track to compete in the West.
