Kentavious Caldwell-Pope will be entering a new chapter in his NBA journey as he will be playing in his first season with the Orlando Magic. Before the league commences, Caldwell-Pope has dedicated some of his free time to playing golf. Hilariously, his wife McKenzie has continued to poke fun at her husband and his obsession with the sport.
The beauty and fashion influencer shared her video call session on her Instagram stories with the Magic guard, who was enjoying his time playing some golf. Meanwhile, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope's wife was in a car ride alongside their son, Ken Caldwell-Pope Jr.
"Spending time with my husband," Caldwell-Pope posted. "He started his golf journey just under a year ago and Tiger Hood can't be stopped."
Last season, the two-time NBA champion put up 10.1 points (46.0% shooting, including 40.6% from beyond the arc), 2.4 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game.
Kentavious Caldwell-Pope's wife talks about her husband's preference to play golf despite hurricane alert
In a previous Instagram stories post on Sept. 26, McKenzie Caldwell-Pope shared her husband's unwavering dedication to playing golf amid hurricane alert.
"The school is canceled, the Orlando Magic has a lockout at the gym meaning you cannot go workout tomorrow even if you wanted to," Caldwell-Pope said. "... Why is my husband planning to go golfing tomorrow? Why?"
In her post, she included a poll for her 86k followers where she asked for their opinion regarding the position she was in. She knew how much golf meant to her husband, to the point that it had become a regular hobby during his spare time.
However, she also wanted to make sure that he was safe and aware of the weather situation before participating in any kind of outdoor activity.
Kentavious Caldwell-Pope talked about his decision to join the Orlando Magic
In an interview with The Athletic's David Aldridge, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope revealed what led to his decision to join the Orlando Magic. He signed a three-year, $66 million contract on July 6.
"The young core," Caldwell-Pope said. "These are most of the guys that they had last year, just adding new pieces. But that core they have, they already believe in each other, trust each other. Just watching them, the way they played, it was not 'me, I.' Everybody took sacrifices.
"For a young team to be able to grow that fast says a lot about them and the organization."
Caldwell-Pope is envisioned to be a vital piece for the team's spacing. His acquisition also doesn't take away from Orlando's defensive identity, considering his capability to guard effectively in space.
Following two seasons with the Denver Nuggets, the NBA guard is set to become an important locker room presence for a ball club in need of veteran leaders.
