Tiger Woods reacts to LeBron James acing scoring record: “That record we never thought would be surpassed”
After LeBron James broke the "unbreakable" scoring record set by Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, most sports icons congratulated him for doing so. Legendary golfer Tiger Woods was one of the athletes who shared their genuine reactions to James' most recent accomplishment.
Ahead of the Genesis Open, Woods shared what he thought early on about how Kareem's record was unattainable. Along with most fans, Tiger didn't expect the record to be broken by anyone else:
"What he accomplished is absolutely incredible of just the durability, the consistency and the longevity. I never thought, I mean, I grew up watching Kareem here and never saw him play in Milwaukee, but he was the Cap, you know?
"That’s all I remember, the Showtime Lakers and watching Cap run down there with the goggles and hitting the skyhook. That record we never thought would be surpassed."
Woods added:
"But what LeBron’s doing, also the amount of minutes he’s playing - no one’s ever done it at that age, and what he’s done and be able to play five positions, that’s never been done before, especially at this level for this long."
James broke the record against the OKC Thunder on a mid-range fadeaway shot. After making a record-breaking shot, the game was halted and LeBron was honored by NBA Commissioner Adam Silver and LA Lakers legend Kareem. Even after becoming the league's new top scorer, James and the Lakers lost to the Thunder that night.

Julius Randle is looking forward to playing with LeBron James in the All-Star game
Julius Randle of the New York Knicks is set to play in his second All-Star game after he was announced as one of the reserves a few weeks ago. When asked which All-Star player he'd like to team up with, Randle quickly mentioned wanting to play with LeBron James in Utah.
The two-time All-Star is excited to play in Utah this upcoming weekend and has plans to play with LeBron during the event.
"I’ve never been able to play with Bron, PG. [I’d] start with those two. I got a relationship with P[aul George] and I’ve never played with LeBron so it’d be fun to do before he gets his old ass outta here."
The possibility of being with James on the same team in the All-Star game relies heavily on which captain gets to pick him first. Unlike the usual tradition of picking players days before the actual game, the NBA decided to up the ante. It was announced earlier that the captains will get to draft their team on the day of the All-Star game.
