"Travis Hunter is the GOAT" - Damian Lillard and former NBA champ hail reigning Heisman Trophy winner
Milwaukee Bucks star Damian Lillard was one of many personalities to greet Travis Hunter for taking home the Heisman Trophy. Hunter is a two-way player for the Colorado Buffaloes, playing as wide receiver on offense and cornerback on defense.
Lillard shared a graphic featuring Hunter on his Instagram stories following the Bucks' 110-102 win over the Atlanta Hawks on Saturday night. Milwaukee faces the OKC Thunder on Tuesday in Las Vegas in the 2024 Emirates NBA Cup Final.
Hunter received 2,231 points, beating Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty, who had 2,017 points. It was the closest margin of victory since 2009 when Mark Ingram beat Toby Gerhart, as reported by the Associated Press.
"Yessir @db3_tip," Lillard wrote.
Apart from Damian Lillard, Travis Hunter was also congratulated by Boston Celtics legend and one-time NBA champion Paul Pierce. "The Truth" took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to claim that the Colorado Buffaloes star is the greatest college player ever.
"Travis Hunter is the GOAT college player," Pierce tweeted.
Colorado has an overall record of 9-3 and 7-2 in conference play, while Hunter has 92 receptions for 1,152 receiving yards on offense. He also has 14 receiving touchdowns and one rushing touchdown this season.
On the other end, Hunter has four interceptions and 31 total tackles. He has also broken up 11 passes and forced a fumble once. He's the second Colorado player to win the Heisman, with running back Rashaan Salaam taking it home in 1994.
Hunter is projected to go fourth overall in the upcoming 2025 NFL Draft, as per CBS Sports.
Damian Lillard grew up supporting the Raiders, done with the team after Davante Adams trade
Damian Lillard was born and raised in Oakland, California, so he grew up supporting the Oakland Raiders. When the Raiders moved to Las Vegas, the Milwaukee Bucks star continued to support the team.
However, Lillard once threatened to quit on the Raiders if they traded star wide receiver Davante Adams for a second-round pick in October.
"If the Raiders trade Tae for a damn 2nd round pick, I'm done," Lillard tweeted.
Well, it seemed like Lillard had to back up his threat after the Raiders traded Adams to the New York Jets in mid-October for a 2025 conditional draft selection. If Adams is named All-Pro or makes the AFC Championship Game or Super Bowl LIX, the pick will be a second-round pick.
However, with the Jets out of playoff contention and Adams unlikely to be an All-Pro this season, the pick is expected to become a third-round selection.
