LeBron James was once again all-around in their gold medal-winning game against France. He played 33 minutes and finished with 14 points, on 6-of-10 shooting, 10 assists, six rebounds, two steals and a block.
In tandem with veterans Steph Curry and Kevin Durant, James towed the U.S. squad through turbulent waters down the stretch in front of a raucous French crowd en route to the well-deserved victory.
As a cherry on top, LeBron James was adjudged tournament MVP after finishing with averages of 14.2 points, 8.5 assists and 6.8 rebounds in six games.
LeBron James could have played his last Olympics in Paris
Basketball fans may have seen the last of LeBron James in the Olympics after their gold medal-clinching win over France on Saturday. And if it was indeed the last for him, he made sure he went out with a bang.
Now 39 years old, 'The King' was impressive in their six-game Olympic push in the French capital, winning MVP honors along with the gold medal, the third of his legendary career.
Asked by the Today show before the start of the Paris Games if it was going to be his last Olympics, the LA Lakers superstar said he would probably not be back for the 2028 edition in Los Angeles, highlighting that playing in L.A. was the last thing he needed.
LeBron James said:
"No, I won't be there. I'm getting the hell out of that city when the Olympics come to Los Angeles [laugh]. All right, I'll live there all year. I will not be in Los Angeles in '28. I'm getting out of there."
By the time the 2028 Olympics rolls out in Los Angeles, James would be 43. But considering how he continues to defy age, maybe a fifth Olympic appearance could be a possibility.
