Tyrese Haliburton announces partnership with $6.06 billion brand ft. dad John Haliburton's monolog - "He ain't no joke"
Over the weekend, news surfaced that Tyrese Haliburton agreed to a sneaker deal with Puma. As the $6.06 billion brand (market cap) gets ready to make him the face of their basketball division, they released their first promo video.
Haliburton posted the Puma clip on his X account Tuesday morning. The video consists of him getting shots up in an empty gym as his dad, John Haliburton, narrates in the background on the bleachers.
John talks about how talented his son is and even jabs at the critics who thought his jump shot mechanics would hinder him. The video ends with a tease of a signature shoe, but nothing is there.
"He ain't no joke," John Haliburton said. "And that's a promise."
Tyrese Haliburton lands this Puma deal fresh off winning a gold medal in the Olympics in Team USA. Since being traded to the Indiana Pacers in 2022, the former first-round pick has emerged as one of the top point guards in the league.
Haliburton has increased his production every year in his young career, resulting in All-Star selections in 2023 and 2024. Last season, he led the NBA in assists after averaging just under 11 a game (10.9).
NBA fans react to Tyrese Haliburton's announcement video with Puma
Shortly after Tyrese Haliburton posted this video online, fans were quick to share their thoughts. For many, it added to their excitement of the All-Star guard joining the famous brand. Some fans also made sure to shout out John Haliburton for his narrating work.
As expected, the majority of reactions were centered around when a Tyrese Haliburton signature shoe will hit the shelves.
"Ahh when are we getting a first look at the Tyrese 1s," one fan said.
"Need the Rese 1's exponentially," another fan said.
"Gotta get them Hali 1s!!," Said one fan.
There have been no updates on when a signature shoe for Haliburton will surface. That said, seeing that they plan on him being the key name of their basketball division, one is surely in the works.
Aside from Haliburton, Puma has one other former All-Star on their NBA roster. That being Charlotte Hornets point guard LaMelo Ball. He inked his deal with Puma in 2020 after the Hornets drafted him No. 3 overall. Ball currently has one signature shoe that comes in various colorways.
While Haliburton awaits his first signature shoe, he'll be trying to keep the Pacers in a position to contend in the Eastern Conference. Indiana will attempt to pull off another deep playoff run after reaching the conference finals last season.
