Tyrese Haliburton expresses disappointment after missed clutch free throws cost Pacers against 76ers: "Doesn't feel good"
Tyrese Haliburton and the Indiana Pacers lost to the Philadelphia 76ers in overtime on Sunday. The Pacers tried to get back in the win column after losing to the New York Knicks on the road last Friday. Indiana had a home-court advantage but found themselves short in the end.
One of the sequences that seemingly cost Indiana the victory was when Haliburton missed his free throws in the clutch. The Pacers star was visibly upset about how things turned out as he headed back to the locker room when the game concluded.
Haliburton shared about how he felt about missing the free throws during the post-game press conference.
"Doesn't feel good," Haliburton said after being asked about the free throws. "But the same thing after the Knicks game, in the moment it sucks but God willing I'm sure the sun will come up tomorrow. ... We're going to get another chance to compete."
Pacers vs Sixers recap: Tyrese Maxey destroys Tyrese Haliburton
The Philadelphia 76ers finally notched their first victory of the season after they beat the Indiana Pacers 118-114 in overtime. While it may have been a hard-fought victory for the Sixers, Tyrese Maxey lit up the hardwood on Sunday. He had a huge 45-point outing with four rebounds, four assists, two blocks and one steal. Undoubtedly a remarkable all-around performance.
Trying to keep the game within reach for the Pacers was none other than their star point guard, Tyrese Haliburton. Despite only scoring 22 points, the shots he knocked down for Indiana were crucial. That was especially the case in the fourth quarter. The Pacers trailed by three points 105-102 as the clock was winding down. Haliburton sank a difficult clutch three to send the game to overtime.
Six other Indiana Pacers were in double-scoring figures as they supported their star guard. Pascal Siakam (17 points), Obi Toppin (15 points), Myles Turner (14 points), Aaron Nesmith (10 points), Andrew Nembhard (10 points), and TJ McConnell (10 points).
Compared to the Philadelphia 76ers, the Pacers had a more solid chemistry. Everyone was doing their part and knocking down their shots. However, Maxey's relentless assault was too much for Indiana to handle.
The Pacers ultimately came up short and failed to bounce back from their loss against the New York Knicks. Indiana will take on the Orlando Magic on Monday.
