Tyrese Maxey flaunts $113,500 gem among his 10 life essentials
Tyrese Maxey has some life essentials that just about everyone can relate to. He likes to wear a certain set of bracelets, munches on fruit snacks and feels comfortable in his pajamas. One of his must-haves, however, is way beyond the budget of most folks.
In a video entitled "10 Things 76ers' Tyrese Maxey Can't Live Without," Maxey flaunted a De Bethune wristwatch — to be specific, a DB28 Skybridge made with titanium. The price of this watch: $113,500.
"I love this watch, man," said the 24-year-old guard. "Great watch. It kinda goes with everything. I love the leather band, I can wear it sporty, I can wear it [and] dress it up."
Maxey added that he's been getting a positive reaction from those who see him wearing this expensive accessory.
"A lot of people have stopped me and said, 'Hey, where'd you get that watch from? What brand is that watch?' De Bethune, they don't know what it is, they go look it up."
Aside from this watch, Maxey also likes to adorn his wrists with bracelets. One of these says "One percent" to echo his desire to improve by at least one percent per day. Another bears the initials "LND," which stands for "Leave no doubt," while one more bracelet reads "LLMM" — short for "Long live Mimi," a reference to his grandmother.
Time is of the essence for Tyrese Maxey and the 76ers
Maxey, of course, is aware that he and his team are on the clock as far as salvaging the season is concerned. Having won just eight of their first 24 games, the 76ers are in need of consistent winning ways to improve their chances of making the playoffs.
In recent weeks, Maxey and his MVP teammate Joel Embiid got caught in a controversy when news leaked of a certain team meeting, in which Maxey supposedly called out Embiid for his tardiness in team practices and functions.
In the aftermath of this leak, Maxey addressed the situation between him and Embiid.
“I wanted to speak up,” Maxey said at the time. “I felt the need to do that because I wanted to share that we are better than what we have shown on the floor. There was a lot said, but it is what it is. We said what we had to say and we have to figure out a way to move on to the rest of the season. Everyone understands what’s at stake. Everyone is feeling the hurt.”
These honest comments from Maxey could be the first step in the recovery of the 76ers, who are currently languishing in 12th place in the Eastern Conference standings.
