Vanessa Bryant drops 2-word reaction inspired by late husband Kobe Bryant's famous message after Dodgers' title win
As the LA Dodgers wrapped up their eighth World Series title, Vanessa Bryant, widow of Kobe Bryant, dropped a two-word reaction that brought back memories of her late husband's iconic phrase: "Job's not finished".
The LA Lakers legend famously said the phrase after taking a 2-0 lead over the Orlando Magic in the 2009 NBA Finals.
Like the NBA Finals in 2009, the World Series also ended 4-1, with a gentleman's sweep for the LA team.
After the game, Vanessa Bryant posted: "Job's finished"
On the night, the Dodgers came back from five runs down to pummel the hapless Yankees 7-6. The Bronx Bombers completely fell apart, committing one mental error after another in an epic capitulation. LA celebrated its first non-shortened season title since 1988, with its last title coming in the shortened 2020 season. The Lakers' last title also came in 2020.
The Instagram story Vanessa posted was soundtracked to the musician Ice Cube's "It Was a Good Day." The California-based rapper is a fan of the Los Angeles Dodgers and the LA Lakers, making it an appropriate choice. The rapper performed "It Was a Good Day" before Game 2 of the 2024 World Series.
Nike commemorates Dodgers' World Series win with Kobe Bryant-inspired hoodies
In subsequent Instagram stories, Vanessa Bryant posted pictures of Nike's special hoodies to mark the Dodgers' World Series victory.
The back of the hoodie had "8 in 24" inscribed on it, a reference to Kobe Bryant's two retired jersey numbers for the Lakers and appropriately the Dodgers' eighth World Series title, won in 2024.
On what is presumably the front of the same hoodie, the words "Job finished" are visible with the D stylized as the 'D' in Dodgers with Kobe Bryant's Mamba trademark logo below it.
Kobe Bryant was an avid supporter of the team and threw out the first pitch before a Dodgers game in 2000. The Dodgers, co-owned by Magic Johnson, also honored the late Los Angeles legend with a jersey giveaway on his birthday weekend in 2024. The organization also donated $100,000 to the Mamba & Mambacita Sports Foundation as Bianka Bryant, Kobe's youngest daughter, threw out the ceremonial first pitch.
