Victor Wembanyama discusses his postgame talk with Kevin Durant

San Antonio Spurs sensation Victor Wembanyama shed light on his postgame talk with Team USA legend Kevin Durant on Saturday. The French big man has been compared to Durant thanks to his height and how smoothly he moves around the court.

Following Team USA's win over France in the Olympic basketball gold medal game, the No. 1 pick in the 2023 NBA draft was in tears. Durant consoled him after they embraced.

During a French TV show appearance on Wednesday, Wembanyama was asked about that conversation. The young star said he exchanged positive words with KD and told him he'd like to take some moves from his arsenal:

"Clearly, this is my personal childhood favorite. He became my favorite player. It was a classic one-on-one moment for encouragement and congratulations for each other, and I made it clear to him that I wanted to learn from him and perhaps only steal one or two of his secret techniques."

Victor Wembanyama is one of the most hyped prospects in NBA history. His first season in the association went well as he flirted with a quadruple-double a couple of times and dominated multiple games.

He won the Rookie of the Year award ahead of OKC Thunder star Chet Holmgren. His second season with the Spurs is expected to be even better after the team added Chris Paul and other veterans to help Wembanyama along.

What did Victor Wembanyama say about his first Olympic experience?

Victor Wembanyama and France surprised many fans when they reached the gold medal game in the 2024 Paris Olympics. After beating favorites Canada and Germany, the French couldn't upset Team USA in the final, however.

Following the game, Wembanyama issued a warning to his future opponents.

"I'm learning, and I'm worried for the opponents in a couple of years. NBA, FIBA, everywhere," Victor Wembanyama said, as quoted by the BasketNews.

Moreover, he praised his teammates and fans for walking the path with him:

"We're going to enjoy the moment. It's great. I'm proud of my teammates. I'm proud of having done what we've done here in France in front of our fans. I'm gonna let it all soak in and realize what's going on."

Victor Wembanyama is only 20 years old, yet he already has shown flashes of brilliance.
