6-foot Barack Obama in awe of 7'3" Victor Wembanyama, quips Spurs superstar dwarfs other NBA players
San Antonio Spurs star Victor Wembanyama has amazed people with how he moves on the court. Despite standing at 7-foot-3, Wembanyama can still navigate on the floor like a guard, making him a scary matchup.
Whenever he plays, all eyes are on him. Even former U.S. President Barack Obama can't take his eyes off the big man.
When Indiana Pacers star Tyrese Haliburton welcomed Obama as the first guest of the recently redesigned podcast, "The Young Man and the Three" on Tuesday, the former president marveled about Wembanyama.
According to the former president, it's hard not to notice Wemby when he's in action.
"It's hard to take your eyes off Wembanyama when he's on the court," Obama said. "You're too young to remember when (Kevin) Durant first came in the league. That was freakish. You just hadn't seen somebody that tall with that skillset.
"You're definitely not old enough to remember Magic (Johnson) and (Larry) Bird. People forget how tall Bird was. Bird was like a legit 6'9" and Magic was 6-9. Those guys were doing things that, up until that point, big men hadn't done. But to see a guy – he makes the rest of y'all just look tiny."
When it comes to height, President Obama is no dud himself. Although Obama's height of 6 feet is higher than the average 5-9 height, it is not comparable to Wemby's.

Former NBA star predicts Victor Wembanyama can have a historic season
After an impressive rookie season, fans and critics expect more from Victor Wembanyama. Last season, he showed what he's capable of on the court on both ends. Before the 2024-25 season has even started, many critics have shared their thoughts on how Wemby will perform.
Former NBA player Gilbert Arenas said he anticipates a fantastic season for the Spurs big man in the future. Arenas even went so far as to liken it to Michael Jordan's 1987–88 campaign.
"That '26-27 season, man, that's gonna be all Wemby, dog," Arenas said. "That's gonna be blocks, steals, rebounds. He gonna have a Jordan '87-88 year."
During the 1987-88 campaign, Jordan put up historic stats. The former Chicago Bulls star averaged 35.0 points, 5.5 rebounds and 5.9 assists. On the defensive end, the six-time champion was a beast as he averaged 3.2 steals and 1.6 blocks.
After that season, he became the first player to win the regular season MVP and the Defensive Player of the Year awards. Arenas could be hinting that Wemby might do the same.
