Video: Jayson Tatum spill secrets about his upcoming signature shoe line ‘Jordan Tatum 1’
Having a signature shoe is a big accomplishment for NBA players. This has become a reality for Boston Celtics star Jayson Tatum.
In an interview with Graham Bensinger, Tatum shared some new information about his signature shoe with Jordan Brand.
Tatum posted an update about his signature shoe on Twitter. It was announced this summer that Jordan Brand will be releasing Tatum's first signature shoe in 2023. However, it wasn't made clear when it would be available to the public.
This is great news for Tatum fans and loyal sneakerheads. Tatum confirmed during his interview with Bensinger that his shoe will come out next March.
"It's coming out in March. This summer, I got to go to Portland, where Nike's headquarters at," Tatum said.
"I got to put them on for the first time. That was like one of the coolest parts of my summer. Putting on my own signature shoe."
Bensinger asked the three-time All-Star if he had a pair of his unreleased shoes with him. He answered:
"I got a pair at the house," Tatum confirmed. "...I'm holding on to this big secret that I just want to show the world, but it's like, I gotta wait."
Tatum partnered with Nike earlier in his career. He was the first player to debut the brand's self-lacing Hyper AdaptBB. This was the same shoe that was featured in the film franchise, "Back to the Future."
Michael Jordan personally announced the signing of Jayson Tatum back in the summer of 2019. Since then, fans have been patiently waiting for the Celtics star to get his personal shoe. They won't have to wait much longer.
Can Jayson Tatum lead the Celtics to the title this year?
Jayson Tatum and the Celtics got off to a rocky start last season. The team hovered around the .500 mark for the first couple of months. Fans were growing impatient and demanding a big trade to shake up the roster.
Luckily, they got on the same page and played incredible basketball down the stretch. They reached the NBA Finals, but lost to the Golden State Warriors in six games. This season is a different story. They are off to an impressive 3-1 start. They have their eyes set on the Larry O'Brien trophy.
The Celtics' front office added some depth to the roster this offseason. First, they acquired combo guard Malcolm Brogdon from the Indiana Pacers. He's the perfect fit for Boston. Brogdon can play in the starting five and contribute off the bench.
The organization also signed Danilo Gallinari, but he will miss the entire season. The veteran forward suffered an ACL injury while representing Italy at EuroBasket 2022. They signed former All-Star Blake Griffin to take his spot on the roster.
It's now up to Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown to lead the franchise to their first title since 2008.
