Video: LeBron James and Bronny James share loving embrace with Savannah James after creating NBA history

LeBron James created history with his son Bronny James by becoming the first father-son to play in the NBA while his wife, Savannah James, watched on from the stands Tuesday. Bronny entered the game in the second quarter with LeBron, giving an even more cinematic feel to this one-of-one moment.

Their debut next to each other didn't last long as Bronny only played for 2 minutes and 14 seconds, missing his only two shot attempts. One of those could have potentially been his father's first assist to him.

Nevertheless, it was still a proud moment for his mother, Savannah James, who embraced him and LeBron James after the game ended. Here's the video (h/t Arash Markazi):

"I'm sweatier than normal," LeBron joked with Savannah.

Savannah waited for LeBron and Bronny in the Lakers tunnel. While Bronny didn't have the box score impact, his dad returned with a decent output in the first game of his 22nd season, tallying 16 points, five rebounds, four assists and two blocks on 7 of 16 shooting.

The Lakers won their first opening night game since 2016, beating the Timberwolves 110-103, to put the cherry on top for the James family after their historic feat.

LeBron James and Bronny James react to special moment

LeBron James has been keen to experience the moment he did with his son, Bronny James, on Tuesday night for a while. It was one of his goals before he retired, and the Lakers star accomplished that dream when he entered the opening night contest in the second quarter alongside Bronny.

The four-time MVP reflected on that feeling, saying that it all circled back to 'family' and the longing to have his loved ones close.

"It's family, it's always been family over everything," LeBron said. "For me, I lost a lot of time because of this league and committing to this league. Being on the road at times, missing a lot of his [Bronny's] things, Bryce's things, Zhuri's things.
So, to be able to have this moment where I am working still, and I get to work alongside my son, it's one of the greatest gifts I've ever gotten from the man above."

Bronny James had a similar sentiment as he deemed the moment of checking into the game for the first time with his dad unforgettable.

"That's a crazy moment I'll never forget," Bronny said.

Bronny is expected to be with the Lakers for the foreseeable future until the G League starts. LA plans to split his time with the South Bay Lakers and the main team for the rest of the year as they carve out the 20-year-old's developmental path in his rookie year.
