Wanda Durant gets emotional in front of Kevin Durant on Sonya Curry's show: "Proud of who you are as a man"

Phoenix Suns star Kevin Durant and his mom Wanda Durant shared a heartfelt moment while featuring on this week's episode of Sonya Curry's show "Raising Fame." In a recent episode of the show, Wanda got emotional in front of Kevin while talking about him.

"You stand always, and I'm so proud of that, so proud of who you are as a man," Wanda said. "And I'm so proud of how good you take care of your mama."

She also elaborated on how her sons, Kevin and Tony Durant, helped her to grow as a woman and expressed gratitude for the relationship they have.

"The one thing about you and your brother is you two have helped me grow up, 'cause I was such a girl when I was your mom," Wanda said. "Because of you and your brother, you allowed me to grow up as a woman who happens to be your mother. I'm grateful for our relationship, I'm grateful for who you are, and I'm grateful for our lives together. I love you, son."

Wanda Durant had her first son Tony when she was 18 and welcomed Kevin when she was 21. The two-time NBA champion has always shared the spotlight of his basketball success with his mother, and Wanda is often seen cheering for her son during his games from the sidelines.

Kevin Durant most notably shared heartfelt words for his mother during his MVP speech in 2014. Kevin said that his mother is the "real MVP" and highlighted all the sacrifices she had made for him to get to that stage.

Wanda Durant speaks on the joy she finds in Kevin Durant's basketball career

Kevin Durant brought his mother Wanda Durant with him while he pursued his fourth Olympic gold at the 2024 Paris Olympics this summer. During her time in France, Wanda sat down with NBA insiders Marc Spears and Ari Chambers and opened up about the joy she finds in her son's basketball career.

"The things I smile about or make me most happy is when I see my son happy in his accomplishments," Wanda Durant said. "When I see how little children are inspired by him and they kind of clamor to get his autograph and get a picture with him. That makes me smile."

Kevin Durant made history in the Paris Olympics as he became the first U.S. men’s basketball player to win four Olympic gold medals and solidified himself as one of the best players in Team USA history. He also passed Lisa Leslie to become the all-time leading scorer between both men's and women's categories of the basketball event in the Olympics.
