"Want to know who that source is": Kendrick Perkins slams Bulls front office after anonymous team source's scathing comments on Zach LaVine

Zach LaVine and the Chicago Bulls drama took another murky turn after an anonymous team source's comments on the guard's attitude within the side. Coming to the sharpshooter's defense was former NBA champion Kendrick Perkins defended LaVine as he blasted the Bulls' front office for the handling of the whole issue.

Speaking on NBA on ESPN, Perkins minced no words when he called out the franchise with an emphasis on accountability.

"No accountability for the [Bulls] front office and the organization and you're going to put all of this blame on Zach Lavine? I just want to know who that source is. I mean, what has the Bulls front office done lately? Did they win in free agency? No. Did they win with draft picks? No. Like Billy Donovan got a contract extension. What has he done? I mean, Zach LaVine in a Bulls uniform has been a 2x All-Star, an Olympics gold medalist. Well damn, no accountability for the front office."

Perkins' shots at the Bulls organization come on the back of an unnamed source, who according to ESPN's Jamal Collier, focused on LaVine's approach to winning. The source added that the SG would do what was needed of him if he was keen on wins. This didn't sit well with Perkins who called out the team's moves in free agency and the 2024 NBA Draft.

The Bulls switched up things this summer by going younger. They began with a swap, sending Alex Caruso to the OKC Thunder for Josh Giddey. They re-signed Patrick Williams and later traded DeMar DeRozan to the Sacramento Kings. This left Perkins unimpressed.

As for LaVine, the guard was barely on the floor for the Bulls last season, suiting up in just 25 games. He averaged 19.5 points and 5.2 rebounds before his knee injury flared up sidelining him for the rest of the season. When healthy, he has proved to be a force, but the last couple of seasons have been abysmal for the 29-year-old.

Bulls insider believes Zach LaVine might not be getting traded this summer

After being linked to multiple teams, the latest on Zach LaVine is that he may not be getting traded this summer. According to The Athletic's Darnell Mayberry, the guard generating little to no interest from the other teams in the league might mean that he will be in a Chicago Bulls jersey for the upcoming season unless they find takers.

"In other words, don’t rule out a LaVine trade. But with league-wide demand for LaVine hitting a dead end, evidenced by the passing of each day, the Bulls’ expectation of LaVine still being with the team when next season begins reinforces the reality that Chicago has been unable to find a suitable deal."

On the health side, it was reported that LaVine had healed well, but for most teams across the league, his $138 million contract is a dampener. For now, Zach LaVine might stay put in the Windy City, but only time will tell if there will be any movement on that front in the days to come.
