Washington Wizards depth chart for 2024-25 NBA season after drafting Alex Sarr
The Washington Wizards look great after the arrival of the French talent Alex Sarr at the Capital One Arena. Sarr was drafted as the number two overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft, following fellow Frenchman Zaccharie Risacher. This is the first time in the NBA draft history that non-American players are top picks consecutively.
Equipped with a towering height of 2.13 m (7'0 foot) Sarr will compete for the power forward role on the Wizards squad. Sarr's direct competitors would be Tristan Vukevic, Anthony Gill, and Marvin Bagley III.
However, the Wizards could also take a different approach and play the Frenchman in more of a traditional center. He can be very good as a rim protector and a paint dominator, making great use of his incredible height.
The Washington Wizards are due to make some more moves before they finally enter training camp preparing for the 2024-25 season but with Alex Sarr being the biggest draft pick out of the picture, the franchise's depth chart for the next season looks strong.
Washington Wizards Depth Chart for next season
Alex Sarr's arrival may have affected the standing of other power forwards and centers on the Wizards squad but the biggest names on the franchise remain the same. Jordan Poole, Kyle Kuzuma and Malcolm Brogdon remain the top three at the franchise and face no game-time threats from the new talent.
The Wizards needed a center or rim protector who could score from distance when needed. Sarr fulfills all the requirements for that role and will be a great asset for the franchise going forward. Marvin Bagley is the player who will face the most threat to his game time with Sarr's arrival.
The Wizards would most probably switch him with the Frenchman to try out different combinations with their star players like Poole and Kuzuma.
