Watch: Anthony Edwards playfully trolls idol Kevin Durant with 2024 NBA playoff throwback moment

Ahead of his fifth season, Minnesota Timberwolves rising superstar wing Anthony Edwards recently trolled his idol, Phoenix Suns superstar forward Kevin Durant, on social media. Edwards comically reminded the two-time NBA champion of their lopsided 2024 playoff battle.

Edwards and Minnesota enjoyed a breakout 2023-24 campaign. They finished third (56-26) in the crowded Western Conference, making the franchise's first conference finals appearance since 2004.

The Timberwolves' postseason run began against Durant's sixth-seeded (49-33) Suns, with many picking the veteran-laden Phoenix squad to pull off a first-round upset.

Instead, Edwards and Co. dominated the Suns, securing a 4-0 series sweep. Three of their first four victories came by double-digits, including a 120-95 Game 1 statement win at Target Center.

During the series opener, Edwards relentlessly attacked Durant, famously trash-talking him after scoring in his face off the dribble late in the third quarter. The triple marked three of his game-high 33 points.

On Tuesday, Minnesota asked its fans on Instagram to name their favorite moment of the season. One fan chose, "When Ant crossed over KD," with the Timberwolves later posting his response alongside Edwards' highlight.

The two-time All-Star promptly shared the post to his IG stories, tagging Durant with a couple of dancing emojis.

Edwards and Durant have seemingly become close friends, working together during Team USA's 2024 Paris Olympic gold medal run this summer. The duo also made side-by-side guest appearances at last month's Fanatics Fest in New York. So, Edwards' latest jest appears to be in a lighthearted manner.

Anthony Edwards "felt bad" for sweeping Kevin Durant

While Anthony Edwards jokingly trolled Kevin Durant on Tuesday, he "felt bad" for the 14-time All-Star after eliminating him from the playoffs.

During his and Durant's Fanatics Fest panel last month, Edwards spoke about how difficult it was to end his "favorite player's" season.

"I'm not gonna lie, I felt bad a little bit, only because he's my favorite player of all time," Edwards said. "I didn't wanna send him home like that, but it happened, man."

Edwards also noted that he looks forward to talking more trash to Durant this upcoming season.

However, Durant appeared to be a good sport during the discussion, as he smiled and shook his head as Edwards recounted their postseason showdown.
