Watch: Anthony Edwards waves off Tyrese Haliburton's skill display on Team USA
NBA All-Stars Anthony Edwards and Tyrese Haliburton are getting the chance to play together as members of the stacked Team USA roster. With the Paris Olympics set to begin soon, these NBA stars are working hard to make sure they are ready to lead their team and their nation to the gold medal.
Through their tough training, though, the two young stars are still able to have some light-hearted moments. During a Team USA practice, Haliburton told Edwards about his bag of moves, but the latter jokingly dismissed his teammate.
Watch this moment between the two young stars, which unfolded during their national team's practice.
Both Edwards and Haliburton have risen to superstardom in the NBA in the last few seasons. Edwards has emerged as the clear leader of the Minnesota Timberwolves, leading them to their first 50-win season this past year since 2003-04.
Meanwhile, Haliburton has proven himself as one of the most elite point guards, leading the NBA in assists in 2023-24 with 10.9 per game. However, they are far from being the biggest stars representing Team USA. They are playing alongside Olympic gold medalists such as LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Anthony Davis and Jrue Holiday.
Despite this, both NBA stars are expected to be major contributors to the team.
Anthony Edwards led Team USA in their win against Team Canada
Aside from holding practices within the team, Team USA is also participating in scrimmages against other national teams playing in the Paris Olympics. They held one such exhibition game against Team Canada, winning 86-72.
While Team USA started slow in that game, they gradually found their rhythm and picked up the pace to secure the win. A huge reason for their victory was Anthony Edwards' performance, who led the team in scoring with 13 points off the bench.
This is not the first time that Edwards will represent his country in international competition as he was a member of Team USA for the 2023 FIBA World Cup.
Throughout that tournament, Edwards showed that he could be an offensive force even under a different set of rules, averaging 18.9 points. Edwards and Team USA finished fourth in that tournament after losing to Team Canada in the bronze medal game.
He was also a teammate with Tyrese Haliburton at the FIBA World Cup, so pairing up for the upcoming Olympics is not the first time they will share the court.
