Watch: Chiefs players pick LeBron James as the GOAT over Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant finds a few takers

The greatest-of-all-time debate pitting LeBron James and Michael Jordan is unending. It is a topic that has been going on for years and will not likely end soon. From casual to die-hard basketball fans, this is a subject that never gets old.

The reigning Super Bowl champs Kansas City Chiefs, who are having their training camp, joined the fray. While heading into the football field, several Chiefs football players and the coaching staff were asked to name their basketball GOAT.

LeBron James won by a landslide 17-7 over Michael Jordan, while the late Kobe Bryant had six votes and a handful of passionate supporters. Out of all the correspondents, only one hesitated about his choice. Wide receiver Montrell Washington picked “His Airness” before going with Carmelo Anthony. He was the only one who voted for the New York Knicks legend.

Defensive end George Karlaftis was the star of the entire clip. The two-time Super Bowl winner decisively voted for Jordan and trolled those who picked James:

“Michael Jeffrey Jordan! What are y’all talking about? No, it’s not [James]. Get outta here. Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, LeBron James. That’s top 3. You guys still believe in Santa Claus? What?”

LeBron James continues to build his legacy

LeBron James' resume for the GOAT title isn’t over yet. Although many have given him that mantle already, he is still putting the finishing touches to a mind-boggling career. James leads Team USA in the 2024 Paris Olympics basketball tournament.

“King James” has won four NBA MVPs, four Finals MVPs and even an In-Season Tournament MVP. The only hardware of such ilk missing in his collection is an MVP in the Olympics, which might be his in a couple of days.

The Americans are heavy favorites to win their fifth straight gold medal. Two more wins in Paris will give LeBron James his third gold medal in the quadrennial games. Standing in their way on Thursday will be Nikola Jokic, the three-time and reigning MVP, and the Serbians.

James likely earned more votes as the GOAT when he toppled Kareem Abdul-Jabbar as the NBA’s career points leader. He will likely do the same if he leads Team USA to the top in the 2024 Paris Olympics.

“King James” still has some left in the tank after the Olympics. The GOAT debate will be unending, but his fans will have more ammunition in said talks as he continues to build his staggering legacy.
