Watch: Donovan Mitchell hits frenzy as Cavaliers star records Lane Thomas's slam during Guardian's game

Donovan Mitchell is enjoying all the time he has left before the 2024-25 regular season starts. The Cleveland Cavalier star was in attendance for the American League Divisional Series game between the Cleveland Guardians and the Detroit Tigers. It would be fair to say that the star guard was just like any other fan in the Progressive Field arena.

In a video posted by Cutch Points, Mitchell was seen watching the do-or-die Game 5 between the Guardians and the Tigers. With series on the line, Guardians' Lane Thomas hit a grand slam off Tarik Skuball.

Donovan Mitchell, who was recording the shot, was already expecting a big hit, shouting since the ball hit the bat. After realizing it was a grand slam, Mitchell went into a frenzy and started shouting just like every Guardian fan in the arena.

"AHHHH, OH MY GOD, OH MY GOD," Mitchell shouted in disbelief.

Take a look at the video.

It was perhaps the biggest shot in the game, not only because it was a grand slam but also because it might have sealed the game for the home team. The Guardians won the game 7-3 and also the series 3-2.

The Cavaliers and Donovan Mitchell are also getting ready for their next season. They exited last season on a better note than their last five seasons.

They reached the Conference semifinals after defeating the Orlando Magic in the opening round. The Cavs were eventually defeated by defending champions the Boston Celtics.

Donovan Mitchell makes a bold claim about Cavs for 2024-25 season

Donovan Mitchell is one of the top players in the league, but when it comes to his confidence, he might even be rated higher on the list. From Utah Jazz to now a Cavaliers star, Mitchell has been an absolute welcome sight for the fans.

After an early exit last season, Mitchell and his team are back at it again. This season, Mitchell's confidence in his team is stronger. In a conversation with The Athletic on October 10, the 5-time NBA All-Star said that his team is not far from being the best in the NBA.

He made an exception for the Celtics.

"There’s always another level," Mitchell said. "You feel that, and going against them, you definitely walk off the floor against Boston feeling like, all right, (Boston’s great). But I don’t think we’re far away."

Last season, the Cavs were one of the best defensive teams in the league. They were ranked 7th in the defensive ranking. However, it was their offense that lacked the sharpness, ranking 17th in the league.

If Donovan Mitchell and the Cavs figure out how to execute well on their offense, they have a legitimate chance to get out of the East.
