Watch: Jaylen Brown channels Celtics pride in all-green suit while enjoying pre-birthday bash with rappers
There are still three days left before his birthday, but Jaylen Brown is already in celebration mode. And why not, he has every reason to celebrate his 28th birthday. The Boston Celtics star enjoyed his pre-birthday celebration with close friends and rappers.
In a series of videos posted by "@2Cool2Blog" on social media on Monday, the reigning NBA Finals MVP was seen donning a Celtics-inspired all-green suit. In one of the videos, the Celtics gave a solo performance.
In the next two videos, rappers joined Brown on stage. In the second video, "Wake Up in the Sky" singer Kodak Black joined him. In the last video, it was "Close Friends" singer Lil Baby performing.
Jaylen Brown and the Celtics will host the New York Knicks at TD Garden for the NBA season opener on October 22. Both teams are projected to be among the top squads in the league. However, behind Jayson Tatum and Brown, Boston is still projected to repeat the title.
Jaylen Brown still not okay missing last season's All-Defensive Team nod
Last season, Jaylen Brown made it clear that he wanted to make the NBA All-Defensive Team. However, the Celtics star didn't find his name in any of the two defensive units, despite being one of the best defenders on his team.
Seemingly, the Celtics star is still not over that situation. While interacting with the media, the three-time All-Star said that he guarded the best players from every team at every position. The reigning Finals MVP also said that people ignore defense in favor of offense.
"[3:00] Last season, I felt like I took every defensive matchup," Brown said. "As season long I guarded the best player on every team, picked up full court whether they were point guards, centers whatever. But people don't pay attention to the intricacies on defense. People only care about offense so."
Last season, Jaylen Brown averaged 5.5 pg, 1.2 spg and 0.5 bpg in 70 games. The Celtics were the second-best defensive team in the league behind the Minnesota Timberwolves. The Celtics star was pivotal in setting a defensive tone for his team.
Brown also averaged 23.0 ppg on a career-high 49.9% shooting from the field. He also shot 35.4% from the 3-point line. Perhaps, Brown will enter the season with a different mentality. Given that he is the reigning Finals MVP, his confidence should be all-time high.
