Watch: Jaylen Brown shares 6x All-Star officiating Celtics teammate's wedding
Boston Celtics star wing Jaylen Brown attended his teammate Payton Pritchard’s wedding over the weekend. The ceremony was conducted by their ex-teammate Blake Griffin, with Brown documenting the six-time All-Star's humorous commentary.
Just under two months after winning his first NBA title as a reserve with Boston, Pritchard married social media influencer Emma MacDonald on Saturday. The couple tied the knot after having been engaged since July 2023.
Pritchard and MacDonald's wedding took place at Cape Cod's Wychmere Beach Club, in the latter's native Massachusetts. To the surprise of some, Griffin, who played only one season alongside Pritchard on the Celtics (2022-23), officiated the ceremony.
On Sunday, Brown took to X/Twitter to congratulate Pritchard, sharing a photo of them at the event.
"Yesterday was amazing. Congrats to my brother, P Rabbit," Brown said.
The reigning NBA Finals MVP also posted a clip of Griffin serving as Pritchard's wedding officiant. In the video, the 2011 NBA Slam Dunk Contest champion quipped that he would refrain from imitating Pritchard during his big day.
"At no point tonight am I allowed to do my impersonation of Payton," Griffin said. "So, don’t come to me when Payton’s not around and ask me to do it."
During their limited time as teammates, Pritchard and Griffin bonded as members of Boston's bench unit alongside fan-favorite reserves Luke Kornet and Sam Hauser. They reportedly nicknamed themselves the "Bus 1 Boys," referencing their tendency to arrive early to the arena on game days.
Given that Griffin was chosen to officiate Pritchard's wedding, it appears he made a lasting impact on his ex-teammate during his brief Celtics tenure.

Payton Pritchard tried to convince Blake Griffin to play another year with Celtics ahead of 2024 NBA title
Blake Griffin wasn't a part of the Celtics' historic 18th championship squad, sitting out this past season before retiring on April 16. However, according to Payton Pritchard, he did his best to convince Griffin to suit up for a 14th season.
On the "Pardon My Take" podcast in February, Pritchard called Griffin the "best" teammate, noting that he "begged him" to return for "one last ride." However, according to Pritchard, the veteran forward declined, highlighting how he was "enjoying his life."
The decision ultimately cost Griffin his first NBA championship. Nevertheless, he finished his career with an illustrious resume and appears to be enjoying retirement.
