Kevin Durant sends a message to the Suns fans during his introductory press
Many fans, especially Suns fans, are hoping to see Kevin Durant back in action this season. He's been on the sidelines since the early half of January due to an MCL sprain. Since then, he's been traded to Phoenix, where they've formed somewhat of a superteam with Devin Booker, Chris Paul and Deandre Ayton.
He was formally introduced by Suns general manager James Jones and the new majority owner of the team, Mat Ishbia, earlier today. During his introductory press outing, Durant shared his excitement at being able to play for the Phoenix organization. He also addressed that he has more work to do.
"I truly don't think I deserve all of this because I know I've done a lot of good things in basketball but I haven't done them yet in a Suns jersey. I want to go out there and do the most that I can and be the best that I can everyday for you guys, so I appreciate the warm welcome but I've got more work to do." Durant said.
His addition to the Suns has opened the window for the team to compete for the Larry O'Brien trophy once more. Many thought that their window was closed after Booker suffered an injury and Phoenix fell out of the standings. This time, it's looking different and they've transformed into title favorites since the trade deadline.
KD's former teammate Kendrick Perkins doubled down on the Suns' chances of becoming a championship team this season after acquiring the 13-time All-Star.
"They have to win the championship this year... Not next year, not the year after next. This year is championship or bust."
