Watch- Klay Thompson hits insane corner three as Golden State Warriors mount massive comeback
The Golden State Warriors attempted to make a huge comeback, however, they still ended up losing to the Denver Nuggets 112-110. Despite missing a lot of his shots on Sunday night, Klay Thompson hit a huge three-pointer in the final moments of their game against the Nuggets.
In the final 30 seconds of the game, the Warriors trailed 112-107. Steph Curry attempted to cut the game to two with a three-point shot, but it was deflected. Donte DiVincenzo, fortunately, was able to secure the offensive board and kick it out to an open Klay Thompson for a corner three. Thompson hit the shot with a quick trigger, cutting the lead to two points.
The Denver Nuggets were without the services of Nicola Jokic against the Golden State Warriors.
Golden State Warriors loss to the Denver Nuggets puts them in a sticky situation
The Golden State Warriors are back in the loss column after falling short at the hands of the Denver Nuggets on Sunday night. The Warriors now have a 41-38 record and are ranked 6th once again.
Given how Golden State is only 0.5 games ahead of the LA Lakers (7th seed/40-38) and New Orleans Pelicans (8th seed/40-38), losing their next game could potentially send them back into the play-in tournament, especially if the other two teams win their next games. Steve Kerr recently expressed how he and his team aren't used to fighting for a playoff spot.
Obviously, the Warriors are starting to feel the pressure, especially after witnessing their star players perform poorly. Steph Curry managed to put up 21 points, however, he shot a disappointing 28.5% from the field. The same can be said for Klay Thompson, who shot 32.1% from the field despite scoring 25 points.
The Golden State Warriors were obviously off on Sunday and it could be an indication that the pressure is getting to them. Losing their game against the Nuggets will definitely hurt their morale moving forward. However, nobody should count them out yet. At the end of the day, the Warriors consist of a championship-winning roster. They know what it's like to defy all odds.
If Golden State does end up competing in the play-in tournament, they have a good chance of winning. Of course, it would be ideal if Steve Kerr could find a solution in their final three games.
