Watch: LaMelo Ball trash talks Giannis Antetokounmpo's brother Thanasis after draining key 3 vs Bucks
LaMelo Ball and the Charlotte Hornets visited the Milwaukee Bucks at the Fiserv Forum on Saturday night. One of the most recognizable faces in the crowd was Thanasis Antetokounmpo, the former Bucks and older brother of Giannis Antetokounmpo.
In a video uploaded on X, formerly known as Twitter, Ball hit a 3-point shot during the game. Thanasis was near him and was talking a little trash at the Hornets superstar, who sunk his attempt.
Ball turned around and pointed in the direction of the older Antetokounmpo, who had a little laugh after what happened. It was a friendly exchange between the two personalities.
Here's the video:
For those wondering why Thanasis Antetokounmpo was with the fans and not on the Milwaukee Bucks bench, he's currently a free agent. Thanasis is recovering from a torn Achilles and is unlikely to play this season. Milwaukee has a special place in his heart so he continues to support them.
LaMelo Ball drops 50 in loss to Milwaukee
For the fifth time this season, a player scored 50 points in a game. LaMelo Ball dropped a career-high on Saturday night against the Milwaukee Bucks. Ball shot 17-for-38 from the field, hitting 6-for-17 from beyond the arc. He also went 10-for-13 from the charity stripe.
Ball was nearly unstoppable, adding five rebounds and 10 assists, but it wasn't enough to get the win. The Bucks were just too much for the Hornets, with Giannis Antetokounmpo finishing with 32 points, 11 rebounds and six assists. Damian Lillard added 31 points and four assists in the 125-119 victory.
The 23-year-old star joined De'Aaron Fox, Giannis, Victor Wembanyama and Paolo Banchero in this season's 50-point club. Fox had 60 points last week, while Giannis put up 59 on Nov. 13. Wembanyama and Banchero each scored 50 on Nov. 13 and Oct. 28, respectively.
What's next for LaMelo Ball and the Hornets?
Following their loss to the Milwaukee Bucks, the Charlotte Hornets dropped to 6-10 for the season. They have been inconsistent so far, but LaMelo Ball being healthy and balling out makes the franchise better.
Brandon Miller is doing his things, while injuries to their three best big men in Mark Williams, Nick Richards and Miles Bridges are setting them back in what could be an improved season.
The Hornets are back at home in their next five games against the Orlando Magic, Miami Heat, New York Knicks, Atlanta Hawks and Philadelphia 76ers. All five are winnable games, with the Magic and Knicks as the only teams with a winning record. Charlotte is also 5-3 at the Spectrum Center this season.
