Watch: LeBron James' daughter Zhuri James gets shots up ahead of brother Bronny James' NBA G League debut
Bronny James, son of NBA star LeBron James, has officially joined the South Bay Lakers, the LA Lakers' G League affiliate. Members of the James family, including his sister Zhuri, attended to watch his G League debut.
Bronny’s transition to the G League aligns with a plan to further his development as he begins his pro basketball journey. He started in a game against the Salt Lake City Stars on Saturday.
Before the game, Zhuri James took her shots on the court as her parents, LeBron and Savannah James, and brother, Bronny, looked on. Although her shots were missed, they created a wholesome moment for the family. Watch below.
Why is Bronny James in the G League?
Bronny James has appeared in five games for the LA Lakers this season, scoring four points in 13 minutes. His most notable moment occurred during the Lakers' season opener on Oct. 22, when he and his father made history as the first father-son duo to play in an NBA game together.
Bronny’s first NBA points came in a game against the Cleveland Cavaliers on Oct. 30.
On Thursday, the Lakers announced Bronny’s move to the G League, a plan Lakers coach JJ Redick confirmed was always intended.
“The plan for Bronny to move between the Lakers and South Bay has always been the plan since day one,” Redick said (per the Associated Press). “(Lakers general manager) Rob (Pelinka) and I have talked about that. LeBron’s talked about that.”
South Bay Lakers coach Zach Guthrie said he would employ a similar approach for Bronny James as with other G League players.
"The conversations with Bronny are just like the conversations with Maxwell, with Jalen, with Quincy, with Armel and with Christian," Guthrie said."We're a process-oriented group. Whenever that time comes for Bronny to be on the team, just like it is with Maxwell and Jalen, we’re going to be process-oriented."
Zhuri James disgusted after hugging sweaty Bronny James
Bronny wrapped up his G League debut with six points, four assists, three rebounds, two steals and a block. During the game, Bronny hugged Zhuri, who responded with a look of disgust as her sweaty brother gave her an embrace.
Zhuri, born on Oct. 22, 2014, turned 10 last month.
