Watch: LeBron James, Steph Curry, Kevin Durant and other Team USA players exchange warm greetings in wholesome 1:29 minute-long video
Team USA has assembled a lineup of elite talent for the 2024 Paris Olympics, with stars like LeBron James, Steph Curry and Kevin Durant among those arriving for a four-day camp in Las Vegas.
The team's official X (formerly Twitter) page, @usabasketball, shared an 89-second video of the stars exchanging warm greetings as they arrived at camp. The video captures the players and coaches warmly greeting one another.
A notable moment in the video shows Steph Curry sharing a moment with LeBron James and Kevin Durant. Watch it below:
USA’s 2024 Paris Olympics roster also features Kawhi Leonard, Anthony Davis, Jayson Tatum, Joel Embiid, Anthony Edwards, Tyrese Haliburton, Bam Adebayo, Jrue Holiday and Devin Booker.
Unlike previous rosters that lacked star power, this year's Team USA includes bona fide NBA superstars who have committed to competing.
Team USA, aiming for a fifth straight Olympic gold medal, has won four consecutive gold medals.
Players began arriving on Thursday, with Curry, who will be participating in his first Olympics, being the first to arrive.
Steve Kerr says Team USA has a ‘good’ problem with star-studded roster
With the USA filled with NBA stars who are starters for their teams, coach Steve Kerr faces the challenge of deciding who will start in the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Kerr sees this as a good problem to have.
“It’s a good problem to have,” Kerr said (per AP). “I’m guessing that all 12 players on this roster will be in the Hall of Fame someday. So, how do you pick five out of 12? The idea is, you find combinations that click, and you find two-way lineups that can be effective at both ends.”
“Our big job in Las Vegas is to find five-man combinations that fit and to just ask all 12 guys to fully commit to the goal of winning a gold medal no matter what it looks like, no matter who’s playing.”
One of the USA team's major acquisitions is the 2023 NBA MVP, Joel Embiid, who chose to join the team despite receiving interest from France and Cameroon.
The frontcourt has been a weak point for the USA, as evidenced by their performance in the FIBA World Cup where they finished fourth. But now they have Embiid and Anthony Davis.
Team USA will play its first exhibition game against Canada in Las Vegas, followed by games in Abu Dhabi against Australia and Serbia, and in London against South Sudan and Germany.
Team USA will open Olympic play on July 28 against Serbia.
