Watch: NBA 2K unveils official gameplay trailer for latest version featuring new controls & styles

The NBA 2k25 gameplay trailer has officially surfaced after quite a bit of outrage from fans. The company previously put the next installment of the NBA 2k franchise up for preorder without a gameplay trailer, leaving fans furious. Now, ahead of the September 5th launch of NBA 2k25, NBA 2k has given fans what they have been waiting for.

Along with the gameplay trailer, the studio also announced a number of new changes to the game in an effort to push back on fans who have claimed the game is just a reskin of last year's game. According to a post on both X, formerly known as Twitter, and Instagram, new mechanics are coming to NBA 2k25.

While details remain scarce, the post indicates that the game will have an all-new dribble engine, which fans hope will make the game more realistic. In addition, the game also adds a new feature in shot timing profiles, and signature go-to shots for players like Jamal Murray, as seen in the trailer.

On the defensive end of the floor, NBA 2k25 will reportedly feature a brand-new defensive movement system, and an upgraded shot contest system for more realistic closeouts and block animations.

Additionally, the game will feature 9,000 new gameplay animations, which aim to make the game feel more realistic. One of the more notable additions to the animation system is the new rhythm shooting mechanic, which appears to add a whole new element to catch-and-shoot motions.

The trailer, which notably features cover athlete Jayson Tatum along with some of the biggest names in the NBA, can be seen below.
