Watch: "Nervous" Tyrese Maxey tries his hand at golf during 76ers offseason
The NBA is in the offseason right now, giving the players who did not make their National Basketball teams some free time, and Tyrese Maxey is certainly making the most of it. Maxey was seen trying his hand at a new sport and expressed his nervousness in a video.
The official X account of the Philadelphia 76ers posted a video of Maxey playing golf. In the video, Maxey can be seen standing firm and tensed as he is about to take a swing at the golf ball with his club. Maxey is dressed up in a proper golfer uniform, wearing a polo t-shirt, shorts, and a golfing cap.
As the 76ers guard is about to take the shot, he expresses his nervousness, addressing it right to the camera and the fans watching.
"I have played in front of twenty five thousand people in the Madison Square Garden and they were all screaming Go Knicks! But I ain't never been more nervous than right now," Maxey said.
After delivering his message, Maxey took a wide swing and hit the golf ball with all his might. He took the shot perfectly, which boosted his confidence.
"Okay now I am getting back better, there we go," Maxey said after taking the shot.
After his brief burst of overflowing confidence, the video transitioned to the 76ers guard attempting a chip shot to get the ball in the green. He successfully puts the ball in the hole and pulls out a celebration for his newfound achievement.
Tyrese Maxey Foundation holds a golf tournament, offering free golf clinic sponsorships
Tyrese Maxey was not golfing alone this offseason as several golfers hit the golf course to contribute towards a good cause. The Tyrese Maxey Foundation held the "Friends and Family Golf Tournament", a fundraiser initiative led by the 76ers guard himself.
The tournament was held at the Union League Club in Trousdale. As per CBS News Philadephia, a portion of the proceeds earned from the tournament would be used to sponsor a hundred students at a Golf Clinic in Dallas the following week.
Maxey had a great season with the Philadelphia 76ers, putting up great performances throughout the season, especially in the post-season against the New York Knicks in the first round of the playoffs.
He averaged 25.9 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 6.2 assists last season and re-signed with the 76ers last month.
