Watch: Nikola Jokic spotted in Serbia watching horse race one day after winning Olympic bronze medalĀ
Despite losing to the USA after having a 17-point lead in the semifinal game, Nikola Jokic and Serbia secured a win over Germany to win the bronze medal on August 10. A day after the 93-83 victory, Jokic was spotted enjoying some time at a horse race. It's no surprise for basketball fans that the three-time MVP prefers to spend his free time at the horse tracks.
The clip was shared on X (formerly Twitter) by Arena Sports TV. It was then re-shared by KMGH Denver7 news & sports anchor Lionel Bienvenu.
In their matchup against Germany, the Denver Nuggets big man put up 19 points (7-of-15 shooting, including 1-of-2 from three-point range), 12 rebounds and 11 assists to finish strong in this year's Olympic run.
Nikola Jokic remained classy after defeating Germany in the Olympic basketball bronze medal game
When the final buzzer went off, the Nuggets superstar went to shake hands with the coach and players of Germany's men's basketball team. The moment was captured and shared by Emerge Tools CEO Josh Cohenzadeh on X (formerly Twitter).
The big man logged 37:38 minutes on the court as he continued to be the centerpiece of the team with offense moving through him and the opposing defense focused on him.
Aside from his efforts, Vasileje Micic was the second-leading scorer for the team with 19 points (5-of-10 shooting, including 2-of-6 from beyond the arc). Hawks guard Bogdan Bogdanovic contributed 16 points (6-of-12 shooting, including 3-of-4 from three-point range).
Bogdan Bogdanovic explained why Nikola Jokic didn't talk to the media at the Olympics
It's no surprise that Nikola Jokic is a silent individual who prefers to keep to himself when he's off the court. His Serbian teammate Bogdan Bogdanovic explained why the superstar center did not talk to the media at the Olympics, as per Boston Globe National's Gary Washburn.
"He's great, but he only likes to talk to me, you know that," Bogdan Bogdanovic said. "In the NBA, if he doesn't talk to media, he'll get fined. But here [in the Olympics], there are no fines. So he says, 'I don't need to.' No offense to you guys."
With the different rulings involved with players' media interviews, Nikola Jokic took the opportunity of not being forced to talk to reports compared to how things are done in the NBA.
It's not any offense or detriment to the profession of sports journalists, but Jokic is the kind of player who isn't the biggest fan of conversing with reporters, even if it is about basketball.
