Watch: Shaquille O'Neal swishes Charles Barkley’s framed pic in a hoop on The Tonight Show
NBA legend Shaquille O'Neal appeared on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, where the late-night talk show host debuted a new game segment called "Glamour Shots."
The duo took turns throwing random objects at a basketball hoop wearing different funny wigs. Despite his infamous free throw struggles throughout his career, Shaquille O'Neal rose to the occasion, beating Fallon, who has a reputation for being good at such games.
In the process, O'Neal even playfully targeted his friend and Inside the NBA co-star, Charles Barkley. O'Neal intentionally dropped Barkley's picture once, but after Fallon missed, he stepped up to the line and swished it one-handed, joking. The duo's head-to-head contest was cheered on by the studio audience.
Shaquille O'Neal eventually won the contest 4-1 and even broke out one of his signature hanging-from-the-rim dunks to thrill the crowd.
Shaquille O'Neal explains exorbitant expenditure on pedicures
Shaquille O'Neal enjoyed chat with the late-night talk show host before the "Glamour Shots" segment. He was inquired about a report in People's Magazine regarding his apparently exorbitant expenditure on pedicures.
O'Neal explained that his feet, which bore the brunt of his basketball career, needed to be taken care of properly and that the $1,000 treatment was well justified. He even managed to get in a jab at his frenemy, Charles Barkley, quipping:
"My feet look like Charles Barkley's face." - Shaquille O'Neal on The Late Show with Jimmy Fallon
Shaq further went on to explain the time using nail polish became a good luck charm for him:
"Well, one time I had a toe injury, my mother put nail polish on, and I have 40 points. So then when I colored all the rest of my toes, I was averaging 40 points for the season, I was like, You know what? I'm gonna just start painting my toes"
O'Neal famously wears size 22 shoes, which are recognized in many places as the largest shoe size of all time.
As a kid, O'Neal often struggled to find economical footwear that would fit and hence he has devoted quite a bit of his time to pedal philanthropy, reaching out and helping others in need who suffer from the same problem.
In February 2024, Shaq helped 16-year-old Jor'el Borden, who was struggling to find shoes that would comfortably fit his size 23 feet. Upon learning about the teen's plight, Shaq sent the teen several boxes of shoes.
The 6'5 youngster was appreciative of Shaq's gesture and had this to say about the philanthropist.
"It’s better than Christmas morning. Santa didn’t send this, Shaq did”
O'Neal's commitment to affordability in providing shoes also extends to footwear made for young kids. He claims to have sold more than 400 million pairs of shoes through his partnership with Walmart after severing ties with Reebok. These shoes are designed to look appealing without costing too much money.
