Watch: Steph Curry arrives in Las Vegas as Team USA gears up for Paris Olympics
Steph Curry checked in in Las Vegas as Team USA continued its preparation for the 2024 Paris Olympics.
The men's team is the four-time defending Olympic gold medal winners, but could face stiff competition from the likes of Canada and France, who have beefed up their sides with proven matchwinners.
Curry reported to the training camp in Vegas ahead of a warm-up game against Canada on July 10. He was seen sporting his signature UA hoodie and a cap. The sharpshooter highlighted the key objective of winning the gold.
Curry, a two-time World Cup champion (2010 and 2014) with Team USA, will make his Olympic debut this time around. He is set to become the fifth Warriors player to represent the national team in the Olympics, after Draymond Green, Klay Thompson (2016), Harrison Barnes (2016) and Chris Mullin (1992).
The other members of the decorated Team USA roster are LeBron James and Anthony Davis (LA Lakers), Kevin Durant and Devin Booker (Phoenix Suns), Anthony Edwards (Minnesota Timberwolves), Jayson Tatum and Jrue Holiday (Boston Celtics), Kawhi Leonard (LA Clippers), Joel Embiid (Philadelphia 76ers), Tyrese Haliburton (Indiana Pacers) and Bam Adebayo (Miami Heat).
LeBron James and Steph Curry excited to play together: Steve Kerr
Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr heads Team USA for the 2024 Paris Olympics. In an earlier interview, he revealed how two of the biggest superstars of the game, Steph Curry and LeBron James, were keen to share the floor.
“LeBron and Steph are really excited to play together. I’ve talked to both of them about this idea of being together after going against one another with such high stakes over the years. They obviously fit really well together. I think the idea of Steph playing off the ball and LeBron pushing it in transition, that’s pretty intriguing," Kerr said.
While both James and Curry have represented the West All-Stars, this will be a different challenge they face together as teammates. Once they touch down in France, Team USA will play three Group C games in Lille against Serbia (July 28), Sudan (July 31), and the winner of an Olympic qualifier on Aug. 3.
